Hi

i tried to use 2 kinds of controllers(for GC) in dolphin (v3.0 on mac osx lion) but none worked. Playing with the keyboard works just fine.
the first controller i tried was an old ps2 controller with an adapter. setting up the buttons in the configuration pane works, and i can see the buttons working (red lights go on when pushing the button on the controller). But when i start the game the input via controller won't work.
heres my configuration:

then i tried the joypad app for the iPod touch. i configured it with ControllerMate and linked it with the standard keyboard buttons (z, x, c, and so on). all fine, too in the configuration window, but nothing when i start the game.

anyone knows a solution for this problem? or did anyone of you had this problem too?
Which game?

tales of symphony (pal). does this matter?
Assuming you mean this game: http://art.gametdb.com/wii/coverfullHQ/EN/RT4PAF.png
You can see from the icons in the top-right of the back cover, 4 wiimotes and the nunchuk extension are supported. (no mention of gamecube controllers)

You are configuring an emulated gamecube controller. The game does not support gamecube controllers.
The game supports wiimotes. You should configure an emulated wiimote.

nonono Tongue

i mean the gamecube game "tales of symphonia": http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/6d/Tales_of_Symphonia_case_cover.jpg
Idk, try the "Refresh" button in the GCPad dialog after you start the game.
Try checking the "Background Input" box.

ok, i found out a workaround. I have to configure the gamepad-settigns WHILE the game is running.
But i have to do this every time i start the game, because the settings won't work wenn i start the game another time.

btw. its the same thing with Phantasy Star Online 3.

I've been encountering the same problem. The workaround works except, for some strange reason, Dolphin treats the Z axis as being the same as the X axis. In other words, my the right and left on my second stick are overlapping those of the first. Oddly enough this is not true of the vertical Rz axis. So, the right and left on my second stick, which I use as my C stick, do nothing, but when I use the right and left on the first stick, which I use as my direction stick, it moves AND does C -> or C <- at the same time. Needless to say, this doesn't work too well with LoZOoT. I have a workaround using extra buttons, but this needs to be addressed. My controller is the steelseries 3GC.
I would like to give another example that might make more sense: in Metroid Prime, every time I move right, I switch to the wave beam. Every time I move to the left, I switch to the plasma beam. And you can't switch to them on the C-stick.

Okay… new problem. Mac OS X Lion with Dolphin 3.0-201 : my controller doesn't work. Period. Even counting the work around.
I'm gonna try going back a few versions until I get one where it does work…
Okay, went back as far as v3.0-197 (the earliest release I can get my hands on) with no changes. Help?Huh

Hahahahahahahah! Sorry.

Try 3.0, at the bottom of the downloads page.
