I own a Clevo P170HMx and while its pretty decent for a notebook its no match for a beefy desktop.

My specs are:
Intel Core i7 2720QM @ 2,2GHz, can turbo to 3,3GHz.
AMD Radeon HD 6970m (Similar to a downclocked HD 6850)
8gb ram

My target would be to run Zelda Wind Waker & Twilight Princess and some Wii games.
I have already used CleanRip on my Wii to make a image file.

Is there a recommended Dolphin build, or should i stick to 3.0?
Currently using the newest GIT build i could find over at EmuCR, but it lags out on NGC Twilight Princess when attacking monsters.

Thanks in advance,
DEagleson
I don't have TP, but Wind Waker runs fine for me on 3.0. I have a 2720qm and 8GB RAM, but a differents GPU so I can't comment on that.
It should run most games (including the two you listed) just fine even with accurate settings. Post screenshots of your settings (all of them).
Im using the Dolphin x64 build from this page.
GIT build of Dolphin x64

Performance is a little better now since it keeps up with the wolf link howling at the end of the title screen.
I also tested it to the part where you learn how to use Epona to herd the goats into the pen.
Thats the part where i lose some speed and probably when im fighting monsters too.

Im thinking of making a "Let's Play" series on Twilight Princess, and i set my SSD to contain the Dolphin build and image file, and all my recorded footage through fraps will be stored on my external usb 3.0 hdd.
So any help towards keeping it smooth is greatly appreciated. Smile

Thanks in advance,
DEagleson
Ok everything but your graphics settings are ok. I would use the official version of dolphin though (3.0).

As far as your graphics settings are concerned:

General tab:
-change the backend to d3d9 (much faster and actually more accurate for this game)
-turn on v-sync (it shouldn't slow you down and it will make the game look smoother, less microstuttering)

Enhancements tab:
-turn off per-pixel lighting (this puts a HUGE strain on the GPU and is totally unnecessary)

Hacks tab:
-oh god that's why, lol, you had texture cache set all the way to safe, that is going to run painfully slow, set the slider all the way to fast, it isn't necessary for this game
-uncheck cache display lists (it causes issues and rarely provides and significant performance improvement)
-check disable per-pixel depth (will reduce gpu load and per-pixel depth isn't needed for this game)

I tried the x64 build of Dolphin 3.0 but it did struggle a bit at the goat herding part contra the current build i was using.
But at least im not going below 25 fps anymore.

I tried the x64 build of Dolphin 3.0 but it did struggle a bit at the goat herding part contra the current build i was using.
But at least im not going below 25 fps anymore.

If you could live with it, you could try reducing ur internal resolution, cause i get around 20fps in the goat herding with my dead cpu
I will probably upgrade to a i7 2920XM as a future upgrade.
If i get that badboy overclocked to 4 GHz then Dolphin would be a lot easier to work with. xD
(They are just to expensive atm)
overclock + laptop = VERY BAD IDEA
The Clevo P150, P170 and P180 (Last one uses desktop CPUs) doesent use the average notebook cooling design of 1 fan and heatsink for both the CPU and GPU.
But i agree that overclock and laptops doesent work well.

And i also found out how to get better frames.
I kept the internal resolution to 2x, no AA and AF.
Seems i also had to keep my "DSP LLE on Thread" enabled and ditch the "OpenMP Texture Decoder".

I also tried the OpenCL stuff for fun but that hardlocked my system even after i installed the AMD APP SDK that includes all the OpenCL goodness.

Thanks for all the help everyone. Big Grin
