As for gaming I feel my peak have passed and the times when it really really was fun is long since gone.
I really miss the old days but also them is gone since long.
im in this phase as well. however gaming will always be something i love to do.
there is a reason why my cousin and myself restarted playing quake 2 ( "co-op" ) and diablo 2 you know
(and lol, but thats not retro
)
i just dont get there to get all the latest games and try them. hell i still need to play conduit 2 & kirby epic yarn & deadspace 2 ...
I have a strong memory from 11 years ago when I used to play GoldenEye and all sorts of SNES classics with my best friend. That was the most fun period of my life with games back then.
It was so great, just hangin out after school playing for hours.
Today I haven't seen him since fall 2004 around 7 years ago when he used to work at Ericsson here in Sweden.
I met a new friend in college that same fall and since 2006 we have hang out after work a few times of the year playing all sorts of games, mainly on XBOX 360 though.
Altough not as great as the big SNES and N64 classics it's quite fun still just having someone to play with occasionally.
But for the most part I feel like a old man couped up in my house playing alone and it's not fun playing GoldenEye in single player.
GoldenEye was the greatest multiplayer game ever for me, so clean and simple looking.
I still remember me playing as a helicopter pilot sneaking around snipering.
Yeah it reminds me of SFII tournaments we organized after school when the game was released on SNES

We'd been waiting for end of school and that was great to gather and have fun on this game. We didn't really give up this and we're still gathering but of course each one got his own life and has to be more serious (or try to

). I would say pleasure is always the same

As much as i would love to talk like you guys, i cant, i'm 19 and still gaming hard but i have to say i havnt been taking my gaming seriously for like 3 weeks now, i'm yet to complete twilight princess which i started november '10, it seems this virus is also getting to me but i also have to start getting serious cause it aint easy gettin a B.sc degree in comp. sci over here

ah ah ah

Yes playing can become a virus but as you said we have to be serious too. I think playing is a good way to decompress I need it each day (when I got time to

) 5 minutes can be enough but I appreciate this moment

Btw good luck for your exam
Can't really tell if it's me losing interest or major games becoming less interesting.
Played the SMG1/2 all the way through, my previous 100%'ed games. DKC I stopped near the end, (partly because I was to lazy to farm back up a supply of lives after losing all of them though). Not many games I really enjoy a lot (Most big western games like Mass Effect/Bioshock/Read Dead Redemption didn't held my interest... seems like gameplay problem mostly, Mass Effect was too much sections of just cover and fire, Bioshock was not bad really, kinda like Metroid Prime, but lacking puzzles, Red Dead Redemption same as Mass Effect, while there is plenty of good story/graphics etc., the main action segments are just cover and fire shooting. So IDK if a great Nintendo game will really do the trick again, I enjoyed Zelda TP but that was 5 years ago, we'll see if I'll play Skyward Sword for 3 hours a day for 3 weeks also.

19 huh, well you're a lad and got a good couple of years left in this business.
I don't think I'm here when you turn 26 but it would be fun to see how you feel about things when you're older.
I know I have a few years left before my interest is completely gone. It's sad but I can't do anything to stop it, I'm evolving and getting different values.
A funny thing I have noticed recently is that I need considerably more time completing games and puzzles and my reflexes in games is getting worse for every year.
Things that were simple is getting harder and I tend not to use hardmodes anymore.

I'm pretty sure you will KHRZ. I've played Zelda TP about a year ago and it felt like the old times, really. Once a gamer, always a gamer. We just have to wait for the right game, but I see your point when most new games are just repeating itself over and over.

and then once in a while
a game pops up that touches me, thinking why games aren't like this anymore
this time its deus ex human revolution.
i love this game so much; i dare say its the best game ive played in the past 5 years (it even knocked street fighter 4 of the top in my list. and i LOVE street fighter. hell i bought a madcatz controller because of street fighter)
Far as I'm concerned nintendo will end up like sega if they can't get their crap together.
lets be honest, when they realized the 3ds was in a mess do you really think they're going to get money that fast releasing BS add-ons? hate to say it but nintendo is really heading into a corporate hell fast.
