What? If you have a sata HDD then why not use it with SATA without the converter.

I need a boot drive.

For windows.
I don't understand your point.

Never mind.
With the omission of the DVD burner, I can actually afford the combo w/ a gts 450.

Do you have sata hdd ? What about case ?
If you have those 2,you can afford msi 460 hawk + i5 2400 + h61 + dvd+ that antec psu + 4gb corsair ram
Its exactly $500
Yes, but if I do that, then I don't have IDE slots on the motherboard, which is what allows me to skip the DVD burner in the first place!
(As the DVD burner I OWN is IDE.
But if you buy a sata DVD drive then you don't need the IDE port.

Lol dvd drive is like $18 and I included it in the build which is exactly $500 and included dvd,but without hdd and case.
You cant buy hdd now with your budged anyways since their price has skyrockted because of crisis in Thailand.
GIGABYTE GA-H61M-DS2 LGA 1155 Intel H61 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard $55

MSI N460GTX Hawk GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card $160

Intel Core i5-2400 Sandy Bridge 3.1GHz (3.4GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 2000 $190

CORSAIR XMS3 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMX4GX3M2A1600C9 $33

LITE-ON Black IDE DVD-ROM Drive Model iHDP118-04 - OEM $18

Grand total $501 for a build much better then the one you were planning. 450 gts ? 440 ?? 460 hawk is gonna eat those cards for lunch. Its not even funny how much faster 460 is
There is no way you could play bf3 or crysis 2 or any other newer game with those crappy cards.
With 460 hawk you can play those games just fine
I already own an IDE dvd drive.
I'm gonna re-use it, since the h67 mobo has an ide port.
I also own a SATA HDD.

Either I get h61 + Sata Dvd drive.

Or H67 with an IDE port for the Dvd drive I own.

Either way, there is absolutely no chance I'll get one of Gigabyte's cheapest.

And as for the gtx 460, you do realize that PSU is not good for powering it in the long term?
(I don't really need it either, considering my native resolution is 720p.)

That motherboard doesn't even have IDE ports!
I suppose my point at the end of the day is this:

Either I:

1. Buy the h61 and DVD drive and save $20.

Or

2.Buy h67 and use my old dvd drive for a while and save $20.

So, do I want free features or absolutely nothing extra?

Hmm...
Erm...

Can I get some instructions with visual aids for piecing together a computer?
(Including IDE drives?)
