It gives you something decent for gaming in the meantime while still being pretty future proof, a nice middle ground (not quite as much as an OCed 2500k obviously but pretty close).
Of course I would still try and save up for a better card in the future if I were you.

seem to have quite a few failures. (Same price.)

As for saving for a card, I would need my driver's license first, so must do that.

5-10% is pretty typical for video cards. If it's DOA you can return it to newegg and they'll replace it. You also get a warranty from the manufacturer (asus or gigabyte), both cards have a 3 year warranty from the manufacturer. So if it breaks you just sent it to them and they replace it. But the probability that you will ever have to do that is low.

N,o an i5 2300 is faster than an i3 2100. They run at the same clock rate but the i5 2300 is a quad core cpu while the i3 2100 is a dual core cpu. The i5 2400 is 10% faster then the 2300 for only $10 more. But if you can't afford the 2400 that's not the end of the world.
Remember not to use the software included on the discs when you set this thing up (download the latest drivers through the internet). I think I asked you this before but is this your first build?

This is my 2nd build. The P4 was the first. (Yes , really, in 2007.)
Yeah I did the x1550 drivers on the disc.
Then I discovered it was basically an overclocked x1300.
So I found new drivers and here I am.
Since you said gaming is your fist priority,and emulation last,getting 550 ti would be out of question if I were you.
2500k+z68+550ti will perform much worse in games then 2100+h61+460 or 560 gtx.
You need to make up you mind what do you want.If gaming is first priority,then gpu is first priority.Simple as that

This setup is all I need.
Also, it's 2400+h61+550ti.
Besides, maybe 460,s will go down between now and November.
And you're psychotic if think that a gtx 550 ti is a weak card, ESPECIALLY compared
to an AMD radeon x1550.
The gtx 550 is about 4 leagues ahead of my card.
Also, I really have no definite mindset on gaming.

How I got to that conclusion since you can't find benchmarks comparing cards that old to cards this new:
-benchmarks show an 8600GT is about 5.5 times as fast as a xt1550 on average
-benchmarks show an 8800GT to be between 2.5-4.5 times as fast as a 8600GT (it varies a lot from game to game)
-benchmarks show the GTX 550 TI to be about 66% faster than an 8800GT on average
5.5 * 2.5 * 1.66 = ~22.5
5.5 * 4.5 * 1.66 = ~40

Galaxy is a very unreputable brand, don't buy from them no matter how cheap they are.
