Great OS, great gadgets, but why in heaven Jobs refuses to support Flash is beyond my comprehension. Oh! right, they want absolute control over software because now everything is about the money for Apple. I miss the days when Apple was actually about innovation and creativity.

A bit of a long read but for those of you who want to know why apple took the anti-flash position: http://www.0xdeadbeef.com/weblog/2010/01/html5-video-and-h-264-what-history-tells-us-and-why-were-standing-with-the-web/

tl;dr but really what I've heard from Jobs is that Flash is the #1 reason of crashes on Macs so he didn't want something so unstable on OS X to be put on a more unstable and weaker iOS.

*cough* BS *cough*

Yes just like steve jobs told the world his company was switching the macintosh computer from PPC to x86 because x86 cpus were "better" and "faster". He had the nerve to say that after spending the previous decade pouring money into ads targeting the macintosh's PPC architecture and how much better and faster it was than x86. We all know deep down that the real reason was compatibility/compiler issues, he just didn't have the balls to say it. Why? Because part of being a CEO is giving everything a positive spin so the shareholders think you're doing a good job. Remember what happened when he didn't appease the shareholders? The board of directors fired his ass.

The reason he wants adobe flash to die is because his company has a financial stake in other proprietary technologies that are competing with it. Like everyone in the business world he could care less how good/bad it is, it's all about whether you make more or less revenue.
The reason for the x86 switch was mobile PPC chips sucked. iBooks were using that god awful G4 before the switch.
Jobs claimed Flash claimed kills battery life and at the time before hardware video decoding he was probably right. Today other phones seem to make it work. I guess he doesn't want free flash games competing with iOS games.
Quote:apple will do fine since steve is still on the staff, just not CEO anymore.
I wouldn't count on Steve being alive much longer. It was everyone's first guess on why he's quiting.

shyninja

is it because he's sick or what?
All signs point to yes. I wouldn't expect Jobs to just be cashing out before the AAPL bubble burst (poor Cook, he will never have a chance).

Now I feel like playing Celebrate good times come on with Kool and the gang

I hate everything's that's Apple and Mac and it's something I stand for 100%

My dad recently bought a 21.5" iMac for himself, he said that he had dreamed of having everything in one machine and sure he got his wish come true.
Since I hate Mac and everything Apple related I was the one that had to install stuff like the printer, OpenOffice, mobile internet etc.

Well the more I sat with it I kinda started changing my mind about things but not that much.
It's quite good and being able to have Windows in BootCamp was a huge plus.

I'm a PC and Microsoft fanboy but even I have to admit that I was wrong... this time.
Safari and Flash both support MP4 so that feature is next to useless. I assume the flash ad feature is a flash animation to video convertor.
