Do I have to have mysysGit installed to use TortoiseGit (or any of the others?)
My seems to be looking for it but I can't find anywhere saying it is required...
Xtreme: you can checkout the new-rev-string branch if you want, it should fix your problem.
or just wait for it to be merged into master, it'll be soon
Runo: msysGit is what contains the actual git executable, the other things (Git Extensions and TortoiseGit, etc) are just GUIs. I haven't used TortoiseGit recently, but it's likely that it's installer includes msysGit.

Fwiw, I _think_ GitExtensions will automatically install it. However, it's not really THAT hard to do, it's basically just running another installer and being done...
Thanks, I had figured that TortoiseGIT was just a GUI, but I guessed the real thing would come with it and so I thought I was having some kind of problem. Anyways, I successfully installed mysysGit and TortoiseGit, I'm cloning right now, thanks for your help, I will try compiling after lunch ^^
EDIT: Meh, I'm getting the same errors Xtreme2damax was, I thought after the last branch merging this wouldn't happen.
I tried following Neobrain's instructions, but I can't find the svnrevgen and make_svnrev .h.js files anywhere, they aren't there... there's a vcproj named svnrevgen but it only leads to make_scmrev.h.js.
What should I do? this is very confusing, I try to understand everything I do, but these configuration parts of VS are specially crazy, cause it's a bit "figure by yourself"... thanks
dont use the default settings when installing msysgit, when compiling dolphin you need to be able to "run git from the windows command prompt"

I had some doubts when installing that, most things I left on default, minor things that I could understand (mostly optional settings) I changed some...
EDIT: Works like a charm! I had to do nothing, just install git, tortoise svn, checkout Dolphin (check for the dx sdk directories, just to make sure), and go!
This should be added to the Build Guide, It's not that obvious, you know... But at least it makes sense. I need to learn more about VS urgently. There's no use learning the language if I can't understand what I'm doing even when I'm setting things up. And now, same to GIT....
Anyways, Xtreme2damax, if you still can't compile, you should try this. I uninstalled everything and deleted the source, starting from zero
ya sorry, a better guide describing setting up git is forthcoming
and "fixing" the problem without reinstalling isn't hard, just add the path to your PATH manually.
Uh, I thought I'd have to go through obscure files, changing "git.cmd" to "git" here and there
no, as of earlier today, the build fix was committed to master branch. So any remaining issues are on the users end
