You know, I intentionally didn't say whether doing such things was a good or bad idea purely because I know they're very "volatile" subjects. So why the aneurism?

Not the way, I would worded it, you can have enough RAM, although you can never have to
much RAM.

I use them all the time as scratch disks - they also satisfy my OCD in reducing the writes of my SSD/s for cache and temp files. (you could also disable the pagefile, but just mentioning such a thing on the internet causes way more drama than it should)
This I agree, in fact I use ramdisks myself, and still having plenty of RAM available for normal computing to negate the needs for virtual memory or pagefile. In fact I have never used virtual memory for a decade now.
Have you tried booting an operating system off of a RAM drive? It is neat, Great in case if a newly installed application say borked your OS install, just simply reboot and load the ramdisk with the OS into RAM again and all problems is reversed.

Oh, no! That is why people makes fun of me

. It's because I am not normal, I create 80GB of ramdisk, so that must makes me far from normal

. Say does this makes me above normal? Perhaps people are just jealous?

But, yes, most people does not use Ramdisk though.

So you have at least 128GB of ram in your system? The only way this can currently be done is with a 16 or 32 dimm slot server board (8GB x 16 or 4GB x 32).
Also your signature is extremely creepy.

Most people don't even know what a ramdisk is or care to know.

Yes, I do currently have 128GB of ram and I am probably going to upgrade in the future for more memory, my current aim is to have at least 256GB of memory, then perhaps 1TB of RAM, I don't know yet, as 128GB seems to be suiting me quite well.

LOL

. I have seen worse signature. Besides this signature is old and needs to be changed, but I am not feeling up to it right now.

Yeah, I thought this was the reason.
9600M GS 512Mb (overclocked) & 9600M GT 512Mb run games fine. Of course not with heavy AA, but with 4-8x AF it's fine. The Dolphin 4.0-46 version fixed most problems for me.
Marked unofficial + unsticked.
To elaborate, the merger of an upcoming branch (tev_fixes_new) will make the vast majority of the information in this thread incorrect by raising GPU requirements (particularly the maximal feasible IR).
AMD cards aren't as much affected by it as NVIDIA cards, since there's no difference in FPS whatsoever with my HD7970
We need to wait for the branch merge. Then we can do a formal benchmark and I can rebuild this thread based on the new data.
