Hi all.
I'm here asking for some advise. I'm trying Alice: Madness Returns on PC. But then I started to wonder about some things. Many people who have the means like playing on high definition and details, high resolutions and even 3D. But, trying to put aside such matters, what do you prefer for gaming, console or PC?
On Xbox and PS3, for example, there are achievements/trophies, which are not on PC. Even when I like getting achievements on games for some strange reason, I'm of those people who normally play a game just once. So when I finish one I can keep the game, but on PC I not only keep the game, but also those lengthy 8 Gb of HDD space (all modern games are that heavy). So there are 2 possible downpoints for PC games: no achievements and HDD space. And if we mention uninstalling, remember that uninstallations on Windows are not always complete/correct even from Control Panel, which would be the ideal.
However, I know of many people who still like PC gaming, and I just came to get Alice for PC. I wouldn't want to feel regretful -games are not cheap-. So, what do you think? Can you give some advise?
By the way, it would also be much better if modern games could be kept and run as backup data, keeping just the game's entire folder and running from it, just like older times. That was the way I used to make backups of some of my games while keeping the original discs. But I think online activation and similar things make it hard (I don't intend to talk about piracy).
Thanks.
I'll play the odd PC game here or there when needed. An example for me would be a game that I cannot get anywhere else in any emulation scene, like Resident Evil 5. Also, being on a weaker system right now, there would be no possible way for me (or anyone for that matter) to properly emulate a RE5 even if it were possible, so in this case the PC version would be best no matter what. Running games from ISO's is definitely more desirable than installing and uninstalling games all of the time, when possible. The days of playing console games on the actual console is not for me anymore, It's all about the PC one way or another.
As far as the game you're specifically asking about, I cannot give you any "advice" on that.
Thank you for answer. Though I also asked because I have Xbox 360 and PC.
What do you mean playing from ISO? Emulation scene? The only way I know to play from HDD without installing/uninstalling is installing game and backup-ing it, this is, copying the entire game's folder to your personal data or desired location and running the game from there. Maybe first uninstalling the "installed" game.

Pc gaming for sure, consoles are for noobs (jk). 8gb for a game isnt really that much to me (i have 7tb storage in total) and it dosnt take my comp long to install shit. no achievements? what about steam or games for windows – Live? If you want to run games from iso its possible, eg: i would make .iso from one of my installed games and include any .reg that it may need. and then just mount and play. also if youve finished with a game on pc why dont you just backup userdata and then remove it if space is tight?

Is this a serious question? PC of course. It's like comparing a car to a horse and buggy. Just off the top of my head:
-Superior Input hardware options (mouse + keyboard or gamepad or joystick or ANYTHING)
-Superior internal hardware (+ the ability to upgrade hardware as desired)
-Actual access to the game content (which allows for modding)
-Integration with other software and hardware as well as background tasks (I can run skype in the background for example)
-In some cases the ability to play without needing the disc in the drive
-Dedicated servers (if it's a multiplayer game), no more shitty networks, matchmaking, and restricted multiplayer gameplay environments (hurray for custom server rules and mods)
-Superior communities (forums, clans, etc.)
-The lack of 12 year olds acting like retarded monkeys over voip (once again this only applies to multiplayer games)
-Totally open and unrestricted use of 3rd party hardware and software without a central company to regulate and license everything to control what you can and cannot do with it (*cough* especially sony *cough*)
And that's just off the top of my head. I'm sure there is a lot more that I'm overlooking. Nearly any game is superior when played on a decent pc setup, however it comes down to how good your pc hardware is (not just internal hardware by the way) and what type of game it is. PCs are superior for pretty much every genre of game except platformers.

Because as I mentioned, uninstallation on Windows is rarely complete/correct or even buggy, not to mention possible problems game activation stuff could cause...
How do you make an ISO your way? Could it be run from a DVD rather than mounting it with Daemon Tools or similar software?
Personally, console gaming is the best, but PC has pro's too.
If you want te truth- get both kinds. For games with high ram space, get the console version. If its a PC/MAC Exclusive, Just get that. Theres a lot of games out there, and great ones will sometimes be just for one. And other times the ports are bad. Therefor, in conclusion, I think you just do both. As long as I went on with this, it was for a point- You can't have all the games you want for consoles only and you get a more limited amount for PC/MAC.
I hope this did some help,

To say one side is better is stupid in my opinion. I rather play both because both have their benefits and most importantly their respective exclusive games.
So, should I keep Alice: Madness Returns for PC or change it for the Xbox version?
You should keep it if you really like the game on the PC.
