I had a Opteron 165 at 3ghz. The P4 was a joke.
Well, Sandy Bridge CPUs perform better, have an inferior power consumption, support more special instructions (SSE4, AVX) and are better for overclocking than any AMD CPU.
I advise you to get a Sandy Bridge i5. I just got a 2400 (3.1 GHz), and the performance jump from my PhII X3 720 BE (OC'ed to 3 GHz) in Dolphin is huge. So yeah, Intel CPUs definitely perform better in Dolphin than AMD CPUs.
