I highly doubt it's 30-40% more efficient then a Phenom 2 for Dolphin.

i7 2600k @3.4ghz + 4870 = 250fps
Phenom IIx4 965@3.6ghz + GTX 470 = 165fps
... jeah 1x EFB (Native Resolution) the GPU is not the bottleneck in this case(1-5% gpu load)

All I got to say that bench is still flawed and for one game only. What you say is broad and false. I based my opinion that Dolphin is highly unoptimized (basically what a emulator is) and benches between the two cpu in a more fair comparisons for games don't have wide of margin of performance deficit of 30-40%.

i own a 1090t @ 3.7ghz dont get me wrong i love this chip and AMD but it/they suck for emulators like dolphin and pcsx2, i was going to get a 120gb corsair force 3 and a another 5850 to crossfire but to be honest i might just get a i5 2500k and mobo, it'll cost the same (bit less actually) and ill get much better performance in general.
so yeah your best option is to hold out from upgrading your cpu and get a i5 2500k.
2600k is basically a 2500K when it comes to Dolphin and in those benches does not clearly say 30-40%. Not really defending. Just don't like it when people throw numbers out like that which are false ;D. I had systems built from both camps when they had the superior cpu.

or you could hold out and wait and see how well bulldozer does, most am3 mobo manufacturers are already rolling out bios updates that'll allow you to use a bulldozer chip in your current am3 board.
