Okay then, but my final exams are like a month away so i dont think i'll try it till mid december, i just hope no modifications or worse TF3 gets released before then.
TF3 won't be released for a LONG time. So don't worry about it.

It has been a royal pain in the ass trying to get drivers to work in windows 8 so far. Neither my audio card or WLAN adapter/antennae have win 8 drivers yet.

I was able to get the win 7 version of the WLAN adapter working by installing them through device manager (the regular installation just gives me an "unsupported OS" error).

The audio card drivers gave me the same error. So I installed them via device manager just like before and it seemed to work. But I'm still not getting any sound. The drivers normally come with a configuration utility (which I need to properly configure all of my connections) but that didn't appear to have been installed by device manager and I can't get it to install manually. I am doubtful asus will release a win 8 driver since they have officially deprecated the card on their site.....
Oh christ these FTP downloads for drivers from ASRocks site are ridiculously slow. 65 KB/s. For a 150MB driver that's 40 minutes. And the first time it had an error so now I'm sitting through another 40 minute download.....
Welcome to my world.
I hope he doesn't intend on torturing us every step of the way with his horrible Windows choice. It must be nice to have a brand new sweet machine that is totally useless to you. Way to go. Smile

Too bad his lecture probably assumed that the troll wasn't an admin.

Anyways I had to revert to integrated audio. I'm currently doing stereo 24 bit 96 KHz over optical TosLink to my receiver which is hooked up to my headphones. I don't have a surround sound setup for this room so this actually worked out better than I thought, I'm getting the same quality I would have gotten with HDMI through my audio card, it's just slightly less convenient to use a TosLink cable (since my TosLink cable is very short and barely long enough to reach the receiver).

For those of you who were on IRC I fixed the flickering issue. Apparently the HDMI port on my monitor is fucked up, so I just switched to the DVI port.

I need to buy a second HDMI cable and an HDMI->DVI adapter and then everything will be simplified (that way I can do audio and video through one cable). In the meantime I'm using DVI for video and TosLink for audio.
If you're going for simplicity, you could get a HDMI to DVI cable, which makes the adapter unnecessary, saving you a tiny box in the back of something.
