Aww, no surplus :p
Quote:The correct terms are fast and slow, and have been for over 100 years. Get over it.

Just because most people say it that way doesn't make it the correct term. The speed of progression has not changed. Therefore it it inappropriate to use fast or slow. This is something that has always bothered me. This is a crappy example but if you drive 4 miles further to a destination than one of your friends you don't say "I was 4 miles fast" or "I was 4 miles faster", that makes no sense, the distance has nothing to do with your speed.

TF2 does this a lot and it bothers me. For example saying the reload time is 25% faster instead of shorter doesn't make sense since you're measuring a duration of time, not x per unit of time (although in this particular example I suppose you could argue that both are technically correct, but that shorter is "more proper"). RPM (rounds per minute) would be an example of something where "faster" and "slower" would be appropriate since you have x/time instead of just time. If something has nothing to do with speed or x/time don't use faster and slower to describe it. In some rare cases it can still be appropriate to use it but even in those circumstances you still shouldn't use it because it doesn't make any sense and therefore will confuse the shit out of everyone and force everyone to use weird conversion calculates to put the data into a more usable form before they look at it.
The world sucks NV. Deal with it.

As a wise man once told me, "Life's a b**** and then you die."
I'm not going to use bad grammar or incorrect words just because other people do it if that's what you're suggesting. Then again I don't really understand what you're trying to say with that post.
I was just saying that though you are right, and I'm not suggesting you change that, the world sucks and it isn't gonna change so writing a big paragraph to refute the world won't work. It sucks.

Don't take my comments too seriously though. My posts in Delfino Plaza are usually extremely hyper.
If someone does something wrong I'm going to point that out to them, even if it's on the internet. How else can I expect them to improve? In return I expect the same courtesy (yes I do consider it a courtesy) to be given to anything that I say, write, type, or do. So yes, there is a point to writing a paragraph explaining why a word that a person used in a sentence is not correct.
I don't generally think people will improve (because in my experience they just reject me), so I don't bother. My recommendation is make a statement about it and don't delve too much deeper. But you can do whatever you want, it's the Internet. I'll still read your posts.

Not to make this more off-topic than it is, but you're saying you consider it a courtesy for someone to correct your spelling and grammar if you messed up?
Yes. As well as to point out an errors in what I'm saying.
And NV de-rails another thread XD
