If TF2 runs good for you, then it's no toaster.
But it's inconsistent. Sometimes I can play any server at 200+ FPS, and other times (notably every single time NV invites me to play on a server he's on) I top 40 FPS.
Are there lots of players with Hats? Most of them lack LODs, so it's normal for it to run poorly.
I run the game at max with detail fading forced off, so LODs don't matter.
What your describing is normal for almost any multiplayer game, but tf2 especially. FPS will vary dramatically from one map to another. Playercount, player items, special effects from items, concentration of players in one area, what area of the map you're in, and what angle you're viewing said area from will all effect performance as well. If you were to measure your fps across 5+ hours of normal gameplay on a variety of maps I think it would be pretty normal to find your max fps at 5x your min fps.
Well now that my internet situation is under control we should really play some Mann Up MvM when any of you have some free time.

This makes me very happy, it is good day.
If only we didn't have to pay for it.....
MvM Mann Up? Yeah I agree, I wish they gave the option to either craft or at least receive in a drop with the rarity of a tool or hat. Both that and keys should be droppable but Valve rather gouge requiring purchase of those items. They should be droppable to every premium play or at least those that bought TF2 prior to F2P but all we got was a poor excuse of a hat that couldn't even be traded. :/

I kind of spend my payload (money) on the sales but maybe had enough for one ticket so I could play. If I had the cash I'd lend everyone some tickets to play Mann Up together. Sad
I got a ticket via drop, I have no idea what you're talking about.
And I have no idea what you are talking about
