Hi, I'm using dolphin on a mac, and want to know if the Wiimote is known to work on macs.
I also want to know if there's a guide to build a sensor bar, as it's just two infrared leds at a certain distance.
Are there different version of Wiimotes, and which one of them is known to work with dolphin and MacOS?
Get a regular Wiimote or Wiimote plus, they seem to work best. Keep in mind while on Windows you can use the cursor as the IR pointer but that option is not available on Mac, so you'll have to get/build a wireless sensor bar. Here's a guide. It requires some soldering, 4 IR LEDs, a battery pack and a perfboard.

Thanks!
I actually found out I can buy bootleg Wii sensor bars really cheap.

I have tried to use the Wiimote on Mac but with no success.
Tried on iMac, Mac Mini and Macbook, and it did not worked.
Thanks, I now tried one with my Macbook, and worked!
The Wiimote was recognized by the OS, and I actually confirmed that at least that Dolphin reacted to the A and home buttons.
I'll try to build a sensor bar or get a wireless one, so I can test the IR capabilities of the wiimote

Nice!
What is your OS version?
Your Wiiremote have built in Motion Plus?
I am not able to use the Wiiremote on my Macs, it just don't works.
It connects (no buttons response), but after a few seconds it disconnects.
I've MacOS 10.6.8 on a MacBook6,1
Don't know about Motion plus, I borrowed the wiimote from a friend's nephew, so no idea.
How can I find out? it did vibrate when it paired up with the mac.
The control gets recognized as "Nintendo RVL-CNT-01"
PS: Any idea if the wired sensor bar can be modified to use batteries?
Because I can get one really cheap

I don't know anything about the wired sensor bar, except that it has 10 IR LEDs. You'd have to cut the wire and use a multimeter to see what kind of voltage the Wii is giving the sensor bar. Unfortunately, I'm not willing to cut mine, so that task is up to you.
I tried it on a 10.6.8 Macbook 2010 without any success....
The Wiiremote with Motion Plus has it written in the controller. It is the newest model.
You can get your sensor bar do use batteries.
Actually I bough a cheap one (like $5) that comes to be used with 2xAAA and I changed it to work with USB power. It is working great as USB.
The only problem I getting is with the Wiiremote the works on Dolphin

Wait a minute...
I thought Dolphin didn't support WiiMotes on OSX !?
