All I see is people complaining about AMD. Y' know, if there wasn't a CPU company like AMD I'd probably never have the money to have a gaming computer... They make things accessible. My new AMD CPU is here lying on my bed, along with the new MoBo and RAM.

When I started to search for good prices for an upgrade, the first thing a looked for was to buy a Intel CPU, but I gave up on it right away, not only the CPUs were far too expensive for my budget, the Mobos with intel sockets were more expensive than the ones with AMD sockets as well. I didn't have much money, and electronic stuff is more costly here on Brazil than USA, for example. It's weird, what you guys call here on the foruns a mid-end CPU, is what I see my rich friends buying for their PCs. Our high-end here is your mid-end, for the domestic environment, much everything higher is used only by companies, who seem to have the same standard as the rest of the world in terms of hardware power.

I have absolutely no problem with you saying that Intel CPUs are better/faster, which is true, but you can't say AMD is "just bullshit", they have their value as a company as well. Wink

*sigh*

in spirit of keeping this on topic, http://lenzfire.com/2011/09/amd-bulldozer-fx-81x0-official-benchmarks-vs-intel-core-i7-980x-i5-2500-2500/

223 FPS vs 180 FPS on handbrake encoding for unnamed Bulldozer against unnamed Core i5
82.8 FPS vs 80.9 FPS on DiRT3 for unnamed Bulldozer against Core i7 980x

granted, this is still a bit dodgy (unnamed? and the game benchmark could have been GPU starved rather than CPU), but at least I don't crap irrelevant one liner.

@Dannnzen
I don't try to emulate these wii games for fun-playing, as I'm aware that I don't have the hardware for it. I play mostly my old GC games on Dolphin, and when I'm not too lazy I dump a new Wii game I got, just too see how will it look like emulated. I got your point now, while looking at Dolphin amd is really a big meh, but I'm too happy my new hardware arrived to care right now, as I'm setting up my new Phenom II rig Tongue

About Bulldozer release date, from what I've heard, we should get it on the stores sometime between tomorrow and the end of the month. Several sites claim "official release dates" but they differ one from another so I'm assuming this date range, as every date we've heard till today could be wrong XD
There is no official confirmed release date from AMD. They could be released tomorrow or delayed till piledriver for all we know Tongue (unlikely though since Phenom II is being EOL'd this year).

90% isn't bad at all in my book and I don't think anyone would complain about speeds like that.
Heck before I got my Sandybridge i7 2600K I could live with speeds raging from 70-80%
It's true though that AMD performs worse over Intel.
Bulldozer will give Sandybridge a fair competition I hope.

But right now I'm looking forward to Ivybridge.

Yes I was kidding with dannzen I thought he would get upset Big Grin
For the Ivybridge : Yes I've been waiting for it too Wink

I won't say that I agree with Dannzen, AMD is not a bad company at all. I have an AMD rig that'll be a full Bulldozer rig when Bulldozer comes out. But I do gotta say that Intel and the same board partners that AMD uses have made rigs about the same price as what an AMD rig would be, 3/5's of the time being just as efficient or more efficient. AMD is not a bad company, but AMD is really milking the cow so much with K10. K10 was a series made to go against Core 2 series, and does keep up and sometimes even has a higher FPS. But in terms of encoding, and overall FPS rate Intel has had that down since Nehalem.
