They never hand crafted the entire core. They hand crafted certain parts of the core, software is always necessary to speed up the development process to a reasonable pace.

I just can't resist posting here despite that I said I'm out but when I read that article and especially this part:

"AMD is known for lighting-fast PC processors that are often more powerful than those of its much bigger rival, Intel."

I honestly didn't know what to belive here.
Are they serious???

AMD is NOT known for their lightning-fast processors but instead their lower prices.
AMD will always be number 2 on the CPU market with Intel as the number 1 ruler.

Intel provides super high quality lightning-fast processors and that's the truth.

Don't be so cocky my blue bomber friend.
I'm not saying AMD is the greatest CPU making company, and their Bulldozer CPU might not be as good as Intel's Sandy Bridge, but it's sure is a step in the right direction.

Though I in general prefer Intel's setup and I too love my i7 2600K, I'm very optimistic in the AMD front.
Don't count out AMD just yet.

So I take it you weren't alive between 1999 and 2005 then?

I would guess his parents bought the PC's back then.
Probably there's a 90% chance they bought PC's with a Pentium III or a Pentium 4 CPU for him.
But I would love to be proved wrong Maverick. Don't get me wrong but you do sound like an Intel fanboy.

Oh god what have you done Gabriel! Seriously man that was a baseless accusation, all I wanted to do was point out that AMD did make very good cpus that competed with Intels high end cpus nicely for years. The Athlon 64 clawhammer in particular was considered by the vast majority of tech enthusiasts at the time a better choice than Pentium 4 Prescott.

altho the P4 prescott isn't that bad (it could still play DNF you know ;D) , im sure the AMD 64 was infact better ye

Well let's see here:

1999 I was a 14 year old kid so I didn't had that kind of money to buy a PC.
My parents did bought the PCs back then but not just for me, for the whole family to use.

I still remember that PC, a Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo with ta da a Pentium III and a ATi card that I no longer remembers the name of.
I played all sorts of stuff, mainly Quake and Motocross Madness.

Yes... I have been raised with Intel. I am an Intel fanboy.
I may sound like a dick but for me AMD don't have a future in the CPU market, they're just too weak.

I really hate to say this but I was right, every word you just wrote confirmed that.

You are a fanboy and you sound just like a dick.
Check and mate...
