Uh, stable release 3.0 being _worse_ than the newer (post-3.0) revisions having the experimental, thus not-optimized-yet, texcache-rewrite changes included? Really? What do you mean by "worse"?
Also, what are your computer specs? Especially the CPU and the GPU?

AFAIK, r7671 should have fixed issue 4638, more specifically the "Invalid Call" and other related problems due to recreating the DX9 device (when resizing the rendering window or switching to/from full screen mode)...

Sure, Dolphin 3.0 may not run as fast as it used to, but just so you know (before saying that it "sucks"), it's _not_ just about Sonic speed; some of it was sacrificed by changes that improve accuracy, stability (and sometimes compatibility)...
If you're just looking for a build that runs fast, then this thread certainly will help. Specially optimized builds (from Lectrode, etc.) might also help.

And you can also install it on XP (Which is pretty old, but however)

Who on earth still uses xp? Firefox doesn't use your GPU in the same way IE9 does, hence why Fraps shows frames per second on every IE9 window but doesn't show on any Firefox window. But I digress...

The new Dolphin SUCKS!!!

Stop wining and develop your own emulator that probably would suck even more then your ego.

What the hell is happening to the forums these days?
Yeah, too bad we're losing our userbase now due to lower speed. Really, I feel sad for all of those pirates Sad

...

Guys, go get a Wii if you care about speed. Thanks.

Yea, same goes for a truck being more stable than a Ferrari, hence being slower. The fact is that there were absolutely no stability or accuracy problems with games such as Mario Kart Wii and New Super Mario Bross Wii (and S Mario Galaxy). They all, as far as I know (and I play them until they bleed), worked perfectly. Sacrificing speed (more than 40 fps!) for stability in less popular games is a terrible decision! You lose some you win some, the newer builds are definitely lost. My spec isn't important in this matter since a game that not a month ago had 60 fps now only has 20.

Get a spine and stop crawling into the arses of people that give you things for free! Just because it's free (what software isn't free these days?) doesn't mean you can't criticize it and have to suck up every shit they throw at you. People like you disgust me.

Fact is the newer build sacrifice a tremendous amount of speed for stability in some games which I've yet to see. Hence it was a terrible move.

Okay. Let's just say: Criticism noted, but we fail to care. (I'm serious)

Well I'm sorry to hear that (what is an actor without his audience but a fool dancing in front of empty chairs), and I somehow don't believe it either (otherwise Dolphin wouldn't go public). Anyway, I hope future releases will be faster.

What the bloody hell?
I haven't criticized anything, on the contrary I praise Dolphin and it's developers, your the one who thinks Dolphin sucks and criticize it!

I guess you're missing the point why Dolphin was released to the public. It's much less about actually playing the games than you seem to think.

@ anyone: Calm down a bit, guys, or I'll close this thread.
I'm sorry, I'm calmed down now.
I think I'm not gonna read anymore threads like this for a while from now on.
(07-09-2011, 06:55 PM)Amarganth Wrote: [ -> ]Ok, how on earth is this possible? So I've tried the new 7671 revision. No matter WHAT I do the fps stays at 15 - 20. No matter what internal resolution, be it 1x or 4x, no matter if anistropic filtering is 1x or 16x, no matter the hacks (yes I've tried to tick and untick EVERYTHING!), no matter if I use dx9, dx11 or opengl. The only thing that makes any difference at all is ticking per-pixel lighting, force texture filtering and AA on dx9, but they slow the emulation down and are unticked by default.

how?

The first thing you should do is disable VSync and untick the 'RAM' option in Hacks -> EFB copies. Only 'Virtual' should be enabled.

then go to the sound settings and make sure you're using HLE sound

Finally, make sure the option 'Lock threads to cores' is disabled.

Also try r7669 (64-bit) and see if it runs any faster (this build works great here)

Finally, try r6515 (the fastest and most popular Dolphin build ever) from here:
