First time poster, looking for some advice from any of you dolphin experts out there:

Current System Specs:
Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz (not overclocked)
Gigabyte GA-P31-DS3L
Powercolour HD 4870 1GB
2GB OCZ PC2-6400 800MHz
Windows XP 32bit

After much research I have seen several polarised opinions as to upgrading hardware and its impact on dolphin fps when playing wii games such as SMG and SMG2.
I am currently using the latest build and garnering an average of 30-60% speed (21-45 fps) in the more intense sections of SMG/2.

Prospective Setup:
Core I7 960 3.06Ghz (again, won't be overclocked, I don't have the cojones...)
Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R
XFX Radeon HD 6870 1GB
8GB Kingston HyperX 1600Mhz (2x4GB)
Windows 7 Ultimate

If anyone can give me any insight as to whether this setup will play wii games on the dolphin at or near the 100% mark, it would galvanise me further into purchasing said parts.
For SMG2, you would probably need at least 4.0GHz in order to run it efficiently.
At 3.0GHz, you should at least lower the resolution to speed up your game play.

Always on 640x480, changing the resolution up doesn't change the fps much

There is no 4.0GHz processor available as far as I know

I could buy a 3.4GHz I7, but my budget certainly wouldn't allow for a I7-990X 3.47GHz and thats the most powerful cpu I7 does isnt it?

So my only option is to overclock then?
