Full Version: Game Recorders Crashing Dolphin?

I been trying to use a Game Recorder with Dolphin to record Videos.
However, for some reason, as soon as I start Recording on my computer,
Dolphin crashes.

I tried with two recorders.
First was Bandicam, which usually gives little to no lag and high quality
videos at a low file size. However, it crashes as soon as I click record.

Next, I tried Fraps, which crashes if I record over 30 fps. Even then, Dolphin
runs terribly slow.

Now here is the odd part. Both recorders work on my Laptop. The odd part is,
my laptop is WAY slower than my computer. On Laptop, Fraps is a measly 5 fps,
Bandicam is roughly 30 fps. (Naturally, Bandicam is faster than Fraps after all)
However, the lag is so bad, that it slows down the sound even with Throttle on.

So, I moved on to my computer to attempt recording.
  • Computer Specs:
  • CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Processor, 3.2GHz
  • GPU: Radeon HD 6870 1GB GDDR5
  • RAM: 6 GB
  • OS: Win 7 Home Edition
  • Laptop Specs:
  • CPU: Intel i7 Quad Core, 1.73 GHz (2.93 GHz Turbo Boost)
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT 425M 1GB
  • RAM: 4 GB
  • OS: Win 7 Home Edition

I am testing on Dolphin 3.0

I KNOW for a fact that Recording is possible since it can be done on laptop.
But I want the Computer to record since it is faster.

How can I record without Crashing?
I don't like to bump, can someone please help? Sad
Oh well, you need at least a i7 at 4GHZ to record flawless with Fraps, so what did you expect ?
I expected Fraps to lag, but Bandicam however, was not expected to crash.
If it works on a 1.73GHz Laptop, then why shouldn't it work on a 3.2GHz Desktop?

That is basically what I am asking.
I'm getting the crashing too.
Looks like i know what i'm going to record Dolphin-Videos with next Tongue

Because Dolphin favours the Intel chips.

Actually, FRAPS produces better quality images/videos. You won't see any difference when uploading to youtube (because youtube destroys the quality anyways), but a massive difference when you upload short HD videos to sites like nico nico doga.

I am starting to see that . . . But, my friend who helped me
build my computer also uses AMD and he has the opposite problem.
Fraps crashes on him, and Bandicam records with no lag at all.

I generally see Bandicam record better quality.
Also, according to Dolphin, Fraps drops frame rate so significantly that you can't
even do anything. That is the same even after you lower FPS and change to Half
Size on Fraps.

Bandicam uses minimal CPU loss at HD Quality. I can record
full frames uncompressed on Bandicam and still get no FPS loss
compared to Fraps. But for some reason Bandicam isn't working on
Dolphin.
