Quote:Mario Galaxy 2: Slowdowns are very common, audio plays once and doesn't loop, crashes occasionally.

This game used to never crash as long as you were using LLE audio. This is one of the games I have tried where the crashes are so frequent that everyone experiences them, even the people who don't play for very long. I asked a few people on irc who said they had not experienced any of the crashing problems I was having to try this particular game and sure enough it crashed for them too.
Yeah, let's stick to the issue at hand here. Of course there are several issues with Dolphin, an emulator is never perfect. But here it's only about the random crashes which came up with Marcos' second big FIFO commit.
The "crashes" in SMG, as far as I remember, were only those freezes after the big stars which are neither random nor unable to work around (just use LLE).

I haven't gotten any big stars yet, it crashed during a boss battle, which isn't supposed to happen. Using LLE made it crash more often and brought it down to at least 50% speed. And of course no emulator is perfect but none of my other emulators freeze up every 5-15 minutes.

If there's a rev before Marco's second FIFO commit that supposedly doesn't crash, could you give me a link? I'd like to test it on my system. Tongue
I'd like to test it too.

It just crashed again, during a boss battle.

It's totally random but VERY frequent.
Well, the SMG crashes don't seem to be the random crashes we are talking about here...
Anyway, if you wanna test a rev before the 2nd big fifo commit, go here: http://www.dolphin-emu.org/download.html?list=27
And take the one BEFORE r7185 ...unfortunately, a few commits were skipped back then, so you gotta go for r7167
Well, I think they're random because they doesn't happen always in the very same point of the game.

I'll test this revision and come back with the results.
I gave rev7167 a try and at this point I can't even get past anything, it crashes right away. Most of my crashes have given me the normal Windows 7 "Do you want to send more information about the problem?" message and opening the "View Details" button gives me this...

"Files that help describe the problem:
C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Local\Temp\WERDA2D.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.xml
C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Local\Temp\WER4433.tmp.appcompat.txt
C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Local\Temp\WER4491.tmp.WERDataCollectionFailure.txt"

It seems more info about the crashes are found in these temporary files. I looked in the Temp directory and found them, ran WERBD7E.tmp.mdmp using Visual C++ and it gave me this...

Is it possible that Windows 7 is blocking something that Dolphin needs to run properly (as a security precaution)?

EDIT: Found someone with a similar issue. http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/issues/detail?id=2312
Hmm. I'm not really a code expert. Big Grin
@El Buga: Hmyeah, but it seems those random crashes in SMG have been there even BEFORE the 2nd big fifo commit, so they might have other sources.

@charliechip95: Uhm...well, that's not normal. I would guess you're missing some runtimes or something. Google for "All in one runtimes", nice package with everything you need.

I installed All in one runtimes but it didn't work...

I'm really uncertain of what to do at this point. This is a problem that hardly any are experiencing huh? Really weird... Undecided
R7167 doesn't even start the game. Crashes right before booting.

EDIT

Will try this one.
