I am using 32-bit on Windows 7 32-bit. I have the same issue you guys have been talking about for a while: random crashes. However, I really only use Dolphin for one game, and that's Xenoblade. If you take a look through the Xenoblade thread, you'll see a bunch of people with the same issue at varying frequencies, but they all think it's specific to that game.

There's a problem, though. Xenoblade has serious HLE audio issues with most versions of Dolphin, but there's a patch that fixes this issue. So even if we can avoid these crashes with an earlier version of Dolphin, I don't think the audio patch will work with older versions.

Oh bother.

I'm gonna try out some other games and see if I get the crashes with them as well. brb vidya
Oh wait I didn't realize that the audio fix for Xenoblade was originally made for r6856.

I'm gonna test this version for a while and see if I get any crashes. I'd rather get back to Xenoblade than start playing something else.
I've hit a snag. My FPS is pretty awful with r6856, no matter what settings I try. I spent a good hour tweaking, and nothing I did affected my FPS much at all. I'm guessing it has something to do with vbeam, but there's no option for that in this version. The only thing that made a difference was enabling OpenCL, but that just upped my FPS from 18 to 22 when standing around during battles. The FPS dives and the audio stutters when using any abilities.

With recent versions of Dolphin, my FPS is perfect with accurate vbeam and idle skipping enabled.
The random crashes we're talking about here happen since r7185, so you could try any rev before that one.

Except the only Wii game I have on my computer is Xenoblade, and that doesn't work so well without Mylek's 3.1 patch. I could go dust off some other Wii games and get them on here, but I simply don't want to play them.

The only reason I am even bothering with Dolphin is so I can play Xenoblade without having to mod my Wii (I'm in the US and had to import). And "bothering" is a bit of an understatement, considering how it likes to crash so much.

I tried LLE, but my FPS is 10 with that.

If someone could apply Mylek's 3.1 fix to a revision before r7185, then maybe I could get somewhere. I would do it myself if I knew what I was doing.

Softmodding is about the safest thing you can do (it's safer than updating the Wii's system menu >_>), unless you're having power outages every 5 minutes :/
Sorry, I don't know how to apply that fix, but this thread is dealing with the random crashes issue, so you might rather want to ask this in the game's thread or ask one of the guys making custom builds (in the "Development Discussion" forum)
I am Here Smile I will say that only one time. THE COMMIT 7185 DOESNT CHANGE CODE OF THE FIFO IN DUAL CORE MODE. YOU CAN ASK TO ANOTHER DEVELOPER ABOUT THAT IF YOU DONT BELIEVE ME. SO NATURAL VIOLENCE YOUR THEORY IS IMPOSIBLE!! I DONT EXPERIMENT RANDOM CRASHES BUT DOLPHIN EMULATE A LOT OF COMPONENTS CAN PRODUCE CRASH. SO PLEASE STOP COMPLAIN ABOUT THE FIFO IF YOU DONT HAVE A REPRODUCIBLE ERROR OR FIFO ALERT. YOU IN THAT CASE YOU CAN CREATE A ISSUE IN THE FORUM. BESIDE YOU CAN WRITE ME TO MARCOSVITALI@HOTMAIL.COM.
If 7185 did not cause it then it must have happened somewhere else in between 7167 and 7212. Unfortunately the auto build system was broken during that time period and I really don't feel like compiling each of those builds one by one and testing each of them for 15+ minutes until a crash occurs. I will investigate this when I have time and email you.

I wrongfully assumed it was your commit because it was the only commit I would consider a "major change" in that period of commits so I apologize for that.

I'm also still getting crashes in metroid prime 1 and metroid prime 2 even after they were supposedly fixed, for the time being I must assume those are fifo related since they have always been fifo related.

Also keep in mind:

If I'm not wrong in Xenoblade you have to disable idle skipping for better sound (it was added to game.ini database only recently)

fwiw, r7185 indeed wasn't intended to change any Dual Core mode. However, some bugs slipped in (I know of at least one). I'm still looking over the code to make sure there's nothing else missing, but I guess I'll be able to fix any DC regressions from r7185 for 3.1.
Then again, I won't be promising anything. [SS] soon will be testing one correction of mine, we'll see if that's enough then.

Anyway guys, remember not to spam marcos's inbox with "omgwtf fifo???!" spam messages, thanks Wink
