Hi,

1st time I ever tried running dolphin it crashes in 2 seconds.
Games. I've tried were Castlevania Judgment and Metroid: Another M. Both NTSC.

Version of Dolphin. Latest one atm r7607.

Machine im trying to run this on. A laptop. OS Windows 7 32-bit.
Specs as follows:
Cpu: Intel Core Duo T6500 @2.10Ghz
Ram: 4.0gbs. (used a 4gb patch to use entire ram in a 32-bit OS)
Gfx: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4300 Series

I mean I can run SFIV and Bioshock 2 at fullspeed with
most settings on high.

Is there a setting or tweak I don't know about or is emulating
Metroid Another M and Castlevania Judgement just out of the
question on this machine?

Ram: 4.0gbs. (used a 4gb patch to use entire ram in a 32-bit OS)
...
cool man you rescued the world with that bullshit

but jeah your maschine is to slow for dolphin...
2.5ghz i-serie for gc games
3.0ghz i-serie for wii games

ati 5770++
nvidia 260++

that are minimal speccs...
everything below is bullshit and its better to play on YOUR wii if you have one

but why dolphin is crashing...
reinstall windows and read the FAQ's

lol i was just going to give up hope but you asked a very
interesting question at the end. So my shitty specs still
shouldn't make it crash?

It literally crashes in the first 2 seconds after it says
clearing cache. I have just tried running an older version
of dolphin...not that old. the previous update and no luck.

I'm at a wits end and yes I do have a Wii. Hacked with
a nice lil laptop HDD loaded with games. games that I
own. Tongue

I just wanted to see if this laptop could run any Wii titles
@ 720p. I figured hey if it runs Bioshock 2 without any
problems. It might work; though I understand when emulating
a system it has to be twice if not more as powerful.

So again. To reiterate the question to everybody.
There's nothing I can do to make Metroid Another M
work on this machine right?

Its better I had said it that way then to
get comments like "Oh you know x86 32bit can only
read 3gbs of ram" So just getting all the info I can
out there so someone anyone gets the full picture/idea
on what this machine/maschine is capable of and try
to help me out. So yeah/jeah I'm not trying to be a dick....deek.

your maschine should play dolphin... but only with 50-60% of the speed (@480p)

try rev 6505 and use dirext9 backend (graphic options)
vb2010 installed?
directx9 runtimes installed?

read the FAQ there are the links

Actually I got it to work with the latest version. DirectX9 settings seemed
to be the problem. It works on OpenGl and works pretty damn good
at 720p. Not perfect but it runs pretty decent..i'd say about 70prct.
Cut scenes are perfect. Gameplay. A tad slow but playable. It would
probably look better if I can run it under DX9.

I definitely know I have DX9 installed... yet it crashes hmm?

gonna try something.
going to reinstall directx runtime
and reboot.

You were correct sir. Thank you very much. Game is running pretty good
despite my laptop specs. Very playable.
people i think over estimate the specs you need to run dolphin, at least on the gpu side alot, cpu yeah you definitely need at least a 3.0ghz dual core to even think about full speeds for a wii game, but even intel hd 3000 gpus are really enough to run at native def
jeah... if you are running on native def...
use your own wii...

Thanks, I agree. I've been able to play Metroid another M scaled to 720p, Tatsunako vs Capcom & Zelda TP. Very impressed with Dolphin and the amount of updates its getting.

My gpu has its own memory. 512mb's, plus i think I can share sys memory. I'm not
thaaat tech savy but reserved hardware ram also goes into Videomem no?

Cause I kinda have a question burning in the back of my mind. Googled around
but nobody really explains in terms of gaming. What positives and negatives
there is to having more or less ram set for hardware.

example 2: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/90/photo1fz.jpg

what would be better for gaming even if it only
gives a tiny boost? which is a better setup?

use your own wii...

i like having wii games on to go on my laptop though.
can't really do that with your console.

but i was playing my wii last night and noticed.
Zelda tp had a lot of cool sunray fxs that weren't
present in the emu. I mean it still looked good but
the wii kicks its ass with all its subtle effects.

is that the norm for everyone? like in the intro
do you see sunray/beams coming down when
Link is riding on Epona?

I understand Dolphin is a work a progress. I just
don't know if its again something to do with lower
specs or thats just how it is for everyone for now
till newer updates.

thanks in advance.
