Hello...Anyways, since Dolphin now runs better with low-end desktops and what not-I'm planning on getting a gaming laptop.

Any suggestions?HuhSad
Ok thanks, but after plenty of research...I've decided to build my own PC. I might use these links for my brother, who is definetly more ongoing about a gaming laptop than I am. Thank you.Smile

So that you can destroy your neck/back/wrists while burning your crotch and enjoying 30 minutes of battery life on a device without any pci/pci-e slots for expansion cards. All so that you can get a greatly inferior experience compared to a desktop of the same price including an inferior keyboard, screen, gpu, cpu, HDD , and usually far too few usb ports. Oh and let's not forget the reliability issues, the fact that it's a non-modular system so if your gpu goes bad for example you have to replace the entire system since it's integrated onto the mobo. And then the fact that dust will inevitably start to build up after awhile if you don't keep cleaning it on a regular basis which will cause the system to heat up more and lower your clock rates since these days almost everything has a dynamic clock rate, so even the performance is unreliable after awhile. Those last few are problems that desktops also have but too a much lesser degree. The only reason to buy a laptop over a desktop is portability, which is a need for some situations that I can totally understand. But what I don't understand is why anyone would need a gaming system that is highly portable. Where are you going everyday where you need to be able to play video games (other than maybe a lan party)?

I guess that's where you missed the point. You don't buy a laptop to run high-end games or emulators when you're out of the house, what you would do is buy a laptop for legit reasons (work, whatever) and if you can get something that runs Dolphin decently, why not spend a few extra bucks just to be able to do extra things if you wanted to.

It's STILL better (in my opinion) to build a decent desktop for say $600 and get a barebone minimum laptop or high end netbook for $400 (which will have far better battery life than a gaming laptop and still be able to do everything you need it to do, and if it breaks you won't be out $1,000) than to buy a $1,000 gaming laptop. I will agree that your opinion is valid though and if you didn't really care that much about having a great gaming system you could get a cheaper say $700 laptop that might be ok for a casual gamer and that would certainly save some money. But I still view it as an inferior way to do things and personally would much rather save up the money for a gaming desktop as well as a minimalist laptop if I needed both rather than a gaming laptop.
