Please enlighten me. AFAIK the last cards to unlock before the 6950 were the AGP 6800 GS and the x800 GTO.
first revision 7800's could be unlocked.
and 5850's could beu nlocked, but the 5850's usually failed hard.
1) get a different case
2) why is there a sata dvd drive but 2 pata hard drives? that makes no sense
The yields on Cypress were so bad ATI didn't need to.

Well I was going to put XP on one and maybe Ubuntu on the other (but probably not), then I relised the DVD drive was SATA, so yeah.

yeah, its a problem to even install x32 nowadays, but XP should really be moved away from.
many newer games are triggering Page Pool errors, (not non paged pools, which would be drivers)

I meant on the PATA drives I am going to install win7 on the SATA.

Well w1zzard mentioned 5850's in IRC back when they were released and said the BIOS can be flashed to a 5870 but it wont unlock any extra shaders because they aren't physically there
Still got a 5850 for the other pc, sapphire had a great deal at €109 for one card 2 weeks ago. Haven't tried flashing though, prob. wont work and either way it's pretty fast.
