Well now that I feel everything's working as it should and looking as it should with the games I feel it's time to take a break from things for a while until the 3.0 release comes.
So happy Dolphin until then, see you soon!
Let me make this simple. If you're running in fullscreen mode on a widescreen monitor:
All GC/Wii games either support
1. 4:3 only
or
2. both 4:3 and 16:9.
Most GC games fall into the first category, most wii games fall into the second, but this is not universal.
Auto: Games that support 16:9 run in 16:9 mode, games that do not run in 4:3 mode. No stretching occurs (so you get black bars if the aspect ratio is different than your monitors).
Force 4:3: Games are rendered and displayed in 4:3 with black borders on the left/right regardless of whether they support 16:9 or not.
Force 16:9: Games that support 16:9 run in 16:9 mode. Games that do not render in 4:3 and then the width is stretched to make it 16:9. If you have a 16:10 monitor you will still get black bars on the top/bottom.
Stretch to window: Games that support 16:9 run in 16:9 mode, games that do not run in 4:3 mode. Both width and height are stretched to completely eliminate black bars even on a 16:10 monitor.
Widescreen hack: Forces 16:9 mode in games that don't normally support it (and usually causes issues in the process).
I would highly recommend using stretch to window on a 16:10 monitor, or if you don't like stretching use auto instead. If you decide to use widescreen hack you must select either force 16:9 or stretch to window or the 16:9 content will not display properly.
Offtopic-ish/random fact:
Some N64 games support 16:9.

sure N64 was a proto for that too

I'll guess I should update this soon with screen dumps from the awesome almighty Dolphin 3.0 release.
It's been a while but now everything is up and running real smoothly.
hey i was reading and i saw your problem with super mario sunshine and the black borders. i had that problem too. i fixed it by ticking "crop" in graphics, in the advanced settings. keep force 16 : 9 on. and when you turn on super mario sunshine, it wont work. Once you turn on the game, you must click graphics. then itll force into widescreen. i hope this info helped, i really want to help the community

Hey thanks for the tip, I'll be sure to use it when I will create the new ones in 3.0.
