for slim/fat ps3. So no problem with linux
and how long do you think the firmware in stores is below 3.55?
and do you thinkt that someone with a cluster of ps3 is going to jailbreak everyone? warranty? problems with sony etc... i dont think such a cluster will be private

Im telling which is true, that PS3 is great unit for cluster in terms of COST/PERFORMANCE.
Go google it if you don't believe Smile
Did you even read my post?
It's about the type of math needed. The PS3 is perfectly suited for cracking SSL because that requires a highly parallel vector processor, which is exactly what the cell be is designed for. Dolphin does not work like that.
Quote:And give me proof for PS3 not being the most powerfull console NOW available on market.
As much as I hate to run the risk of turning this into an xbox360 vs. ps3 thread I must point out that neither is superior, they are different, not better.
If I were developing software for both of them I would probably prefer the 360s architecture. Having three PPC G6 cpus instead of 1 cell be would be highly beneficial for parallel scalar code. I also happen to prefer the 360s ATI Xenos over the PS3s Nvidia G77 (and I owned a G77 based video card). The unified shader pipeline, edram, hardware texture decoding, and shared memory system are all highly beneficial to software that is more shader/gpu oriented. So saying the PS3 is flat out more powerful is stupid, it's different, neither is "more powerful".
I still don't get it. Why would someone want a PS3 emulator? I mean Dolphin Emulator is used for playing WII/GC games on HD resolution. PS3 already have that.

This thread is not about a ps3 emulator. This thread is about modifying dolphin to run on a ps3.

Same reason why people want an emulator for all kinds of consoles, to play pirated games or to save the money for the consoles (which leads to piracy as well) or to play on the train using a notebook :p or to save space at home (less machines = more space)

Impossible was a bad word to use. "Makes no f*cking sense" would be a better description. It shows that the person does not understand what the word emulation means.
You know, I wasn't gonna post on this but you're really bothering me.. You ever heard of a joke..? Lol.
Some people prefer to have everything on one system for convenience, power, or space saving reasons.
... and the reasons why an emulator actually gets coded (boredom, interest in emulation theory, personal studying, ...) are vastly different from the reasons why other people WANT to have emulators...
