Thanks!
My opinion is that I think Bulldozer will perform just fine and that the people who buy it will be pleased.
I myself wait for Ivy bridge.

So, I've managed to pay for a 6570 with my Bitcoins, leaving me with a bit more room for other parts in my budget. I'm looking at possibly getting the Core i5 2400S and going with an Intel setup. Anyone able to vouch for how powerful the Core i5 2400S is? It draws a reasonable 65 Watts, and I'm planning to use this Athena Power PSU for the build, which delivers 350w:

Use this site to see how much power you need.

That calculator doesn't list the Radeon 6570.

, but it should be updated soon

I used that tool with a 5670 instead of a 6570 just to get a general idea, and it looks like I'll be wanting a 300+w PSU.

I'm here to announce I am abandoning plans to put this computer in a NES case. Every which way I put it, the NES is just slightly too small. If it were less than a centimeter taller, or if it didn't taper downwards, or if the ventilation slits on the top were thinner, or any of a dozen other what-ifs were true, then I'd have proceeded. Unfortunately, the Mini ITX/Flex ATX PSU is ever so slightly too large to fit properly, and the only PSUs that would work are Pico PSUs, which simply do not deliver enough power. Use of the MiniITX/Flex ATX PSU would require massive modification of the case in some form, which would result in an unsightly computer in a mangled NES Case. I'm afraid I'll have to resort to either a standard HTPC-style case, or use my old Xbox case, which defeats the retro feel.
That said, I am still going to build this PC, it'll just look different when done.

Why not try an HTPC case? Those are small, (usually) sleek, and pretty form-factor without being as constricting as an NES.
Heck, if you were ambitious you could paint one Two-Tone like an NES... :p

Yes I'm sure those are from a reliable source /end sarcasm
AMD stated that 8 core models would see a 50% increase in performance. Which is a 12.5% increase in performance per clock per core, which would put them on par with lyynfield/bloomfield, but even that was speculation/assumption on their part so nothing is set in stone until release. And keep in mind dolphin is not highly multi-threaded. In order for it to perform well with dolphin the prefetch/brand prediction/memory bandwidth/ and vector OP/s per thread all have to improve significantly.
And where did you get the june date from if I may ask? I can't seem to find the announcement.

Yeah, benchmarks WERE "leaked" so it's not like they can be trusted but still
