a lot of the posters on the Maximum PC website are tards, comparing a PSN hack to terrorism
tbh i hope Sony gets shut down and fades out of existence, if a company like them can't even stand up to a 12 year old with an internet connection they deserve it
and already stated by a member of Maximum PC, PC gamers with SOE acocunts also had their info stolen (myself included) and there isnt any info if the insurance policy will cover the PC gamers
I have never really liked Sony (not a fanboy of any company), but the PSX were pretty much OK back then when it was just a console.
Today's consoles is more then just a console, it just have to be Internet this and Internet that, nah I don't like these ideas, not one bit.
Things like this is bound to happen sooner or later, and if I would buy extras I rather buy them physically on a Disc in a real store.

The second attack wasn't made by script kiddies. It was a professional criminal exploitation made to steal user info from Sony servers all over the world & the attackers transfered a bunch of data in a matter of hours. The 'anon' ruse is just a diversion.
Sony got into a lot of trouble with the US government because the attackers stole astronomical amounts financially valuable data.

Sony Corporation Wrote:Sony has been the victim of a very carefully planned, very professional, highly sophisticated criminal cyber attack.
Kazuo Hirai, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sony Computer Entertainment America, submitted written answers to questions posed by the subcommittee about the large-scale, criminal cyber-attack we have experienced.
We are taking a number of steps to prevent future breaches, including enhanced levels of data protection and encryption; enhanced ability to detect software intrusions, unauthorized access and unusual activity patterns; additional firewalls; establishment of a new data center in an undisclosed location with increased security; and the naming of a new Chief Information Security Officer.

first of all, if you'd wish for sony to fade away you are wishing the disappearance of great mobile phones(sony ericsson) , tv's, blue ray players (that aren't the ps3),...
second, this wasn't done by a 12 year old with an internet connection. this was a good hack. HOWEVER, sony did run an old apache version that was exploitable.
