What I can contribute to this thread/discussion is that I only install the x64 versions of the Visual C++ 2005, 2008 and 2010 redists.
Not once have I installed a x86 version of them and all have been nice and dandy.
In my opinion the x86 versions isn't required at all, both Dolphin and PCSX2 work well without them on a 64-bit environment and PCSX2 is x86 only atm.
I already have tried reinstalling and installing only the x64 version, but I hadn't uninstall previous C++ (2005 and 2008 for x86), so I will try get rid of them, and try again.
hi, i have the same error when trying to run the lastest versions of dolphin...
believe it or not, i tried to run every version, and the most updated one that works on my system is:
"r7283"
versions above that dont work...it gets me the error 0x000007b...
what changed from r7283 to 7284???
if we discover we can find the problem to this issue
I give up, no way to run Dolphin x64, this is the only x64 program that doesn't run on my system, I followed the Getting Started guides and tried everything you suggested, none of them work, well I suppose I will continue using the slower x86 version.
I suppose this is how the x64 emulator is programed, maybe is trying to get a memory address that is already being used, well I don't know.
Well people thanks for the help anyway.

BS.
pcsx2 requires the VC2005 or VC2010 x86 redists.

No BS at all, I don't have a single x86 redist of either 2005, 2008 and 2010 only the x64 redists.
Still it might be because of I'm using the older PCSX2 0.9.6 release.
I can prove it with screen dumps any day and I will enjoy proving you wrong Squall
