I was going to start a thread entitled "Why do people from Belgium think Americans can't pass driving tests and where do they get these silly ideas from?", but I figured it would be a waste of time. ;p

waste of time indeed

its because we get more complicated shit on daily basis from the day we step into school, including driving a car. (math anyone?)
what you get , and often struggle with, is for many of us just piece of cake
How can you make such broad generalizations? You have no idea what other people have to go through no matter where they're from. Why don't you give us all an example of something that "we" go through and struggle with that you can handle fine?
http://www.teachersatrisk.com/2008/06/08/math-education-in-america-is-failing-to-prepare-students-for-the-21st-century/
+ i recently read somewhere (cant find source, so citation needed) that what you guys see in math classes in a year is very often something we only takes a few months over.
+ (like the topic) drivers exams with a bloody automatic which is easier then driving an manual (which btw can be more fuel efficient depending on how you drive your manual)

http://www.golocalprov.com/news/we-are-not-the-worst-drivers-in-america-just-47th/
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=28&f=23&t=978673&mid=0&i=0&nmt=90+failed+attempts+at+driving+theory..&mid=0

and some googling will always tell you about the same result (after taking it with some salt)
- european drivers tests are often much harder then us tests depending on the country (most are)
- european drivers use manual; which is relatively harder to handle then automatic
- europeans have around the same success rate

so i can conclude that either the people in the us are:
- less intelligent or
- never needed to use their brain on level we do; partly because of
- kept stupid by stupid education in school

and keep in mind im not saying we dont have stupid ppl; we totally do. but just agree that something does not fit or sound right if subject 'x' is easier in place 'y' then in place 'z'; the success ratio is about the same of place 'y' & place 'z'
I can find stats for or against anything on the web, these types of articles and stats do not hold a lot of water with me. At the very most you can say that some Americans have troubles with tests of all kinds just as anyone else does.

yes, and i did say that
and then i added we get more shit to deal with in general education, logic etc etc and still we have the same success rate
and then i concluded from those 2 facts a few things you seem to ignore Tongue

El Digato

What has Belgium accomplished scientifically? Or mathematically? Before I argue with you, I want you to give me some facts.

After reading on Wikipedia about Education in Belgium, their Educational System appears to be better.

Answer my question. What has Belgium accomplished scientifically or mathematically?
