I haven't seen that many people on forums that actually liked Vista or have had much good to say about it.
And it sometimes feels like Microsoft themselves hate it, why I don't know.
Sad really.

There's pros and cons with almost all OS's
Vista ain't bad, 7 isn't the almighty savior as so many on other forums claims it to be although it's one of the best.

"8"... well I don't know.
I'm guessing that "8" and "2012 Server" will share the same code base/kernel but hopefully the Server version comes without the Metro UI and is much more lighter and cleaner.
Still the price tag on that thing is way to much so it's out of the question and all the tweaks and fixes you have to do just to get it working like a client side OS not being worth it.

So that stills leaves me with Vista & 7 with "8" in the garbage can.

Well I usually use my laptop when I'm "on the road" for my job and Vista is enough for that. Of course I confess Dolphin is installed it's my only x86 version so I can compare with x64 version Wink (Good excuse I know Tongue)
Vista is alright nowadays but the missing 2D acceleration bothers me.

I think that can be solved with Vista's platform updates that exists.

Yeah Vista nowdays is really fast.
For laptops it's great, feels much more lighter and isn't quite the resource hungry beast it once was and it's not quite as ancient as XP.

And these platform updates really gives it a polish.
DX11 is quite a nice addition to it.

Vista and 7 will stay for many years in my house that's for sure.
Windows 8 Developer Preview is available for download now, keep it mind that you should not install this on production systems (install at your own risks!)
