What virtual machine software are people using for the customer preview? After a couple of minutes of searching the first 64bit virtual machine program was the windows one, but it claims that I don't have a 64bit processor when I try to install 64bit windows 8 to it. I'm downloading the 32bit version, but I'd like some advice on how to fix it in 64bit or a recommended virtual machine program.
VMWare is pretty good, i dont have windows 8 btw
Quote:The point is that until I get around to catching up on school-work so I have time to use games properly and buy a new GPU and battlefield 3 I cannot be certain. So far you have failed to convince me, but as I've said, that may change. I am fairly certain that I will never make a good mouse sniper, but then I'm not amazing on a gamepad either.

Keep in mind that you can't compare your performance (K/D ratio and general success) on a console with a gamepad against a PC with a mouse.

On consoles everyone uses a controller so everyone has the same impairment. Console games also have lots of aim assist features built in (as well as cheap acceleration/deceleration systems) that most people don't notice and automatically lower the sensitivity when aiming through a scope (to help snipers, PC games are starting to this now).

To make a good comparison either:
1. Compare your game performance on a PC game using a mouse + keyboard vs. a controller. You will notice that you are at a severe disadvantage with a controller.
or
2. Compare the performance of the hardware not your success with it. Try to quickly hit a small precise spot with both. You'll notice it's a lot easier with a mouse.

Damn I keep going off topic. Why do the off-topic posts always have to be so damn tempting to answer!
When I've had a proper pc shooter (mass effect 3 demo) I found it easier with the mouse, but I'm very inclined to say that was because the game isn't compatible with gamepads, so I had to use Xpadder, and didn't know how to change the sensitivity in Xpadder, and haven't played it again since I worked that out.
Lol, just downloaded a new NVIDIA driver for my new GTX560. Interesting, it is already certified for Windows 8 Consumer Preview (as a preview driver)
It's because of things like that that I like NVidia, they just care about the same things as me. Tongue
As of this morning I have Windows 8 on a virtual machine, and I can confirm that it does boot and shut down, but that's as far as I've got.

You care about whether microsoft puts a virtual "certified" sticker onto $software from $company? What the hell.
No, not that certified. I mean Nvidia certified, meaning they already took their time to test and stuff on that OS. And it is cool that they released a Preview driver along with the preview apps the companies are releasing for the CP. Fuck MS certificates ^^
so... worth upgrading?
To windows 8? No not really unless you are using a touchscreen. It may get better with service packs and updates, but at least for now it definitely isn't worthwhile.
