Something that I only just remembered: Windows 8 is supposed (or at some point was predicted with evidence) to be fully intergrateable with XBox live, so that a decent PC would have the option of playing online with XBox users. Also as I mentioned earlier, the XBox 360 has recently switched to a metro style interface. This leads me to believe that they are trying to make windows 8 like a console, maybe to encourage more people to use gaming PCs, as windows will make more money selling a copy of windows than they'll make of a sceptical XBox user, as the console is sold at a loss, and if you only buy a few games, or only second hand games they won't make much or any money back from this.
If that makes no sense then I apologise, as I only thought that through properly for the first time just now, so may not have got the point across or the logic across when coverting it into words.
I just wrote a massive paragraph, and it doesn't seem to have arrived, and I am to lazy to type it again, or to look for it. If a random paragraph about windows 8 appears elsewhere and you see it, cvan you copy it here.
At least for me, my posts aren't showing up here. Notify me in some way if you can see my other two posts in the last 20 minutes
I have being using Windows 8 DP since its Release, and it expires January 2013, and i used the Win7 Startmenu Switcher which gets rid of the Metro to make it identical to Windows 7.
Free and Legal Windows operating with DX11, cant get a better deal then that.
Hey, my posts have turned up. This is excellent.
Hey, seems the Consumer preview have a way of closing metro apps without having to go to the task manager and kill it :O
I just found out that if you bring up the list of open metro apps (bring the mouse to the lower left corner and then move it up) you can close them by right clicking them and choosing Close. Now that's useful.
Do you think MS will release 8 with some kind of tutorial or navigation guide? Cause the average user won't get these things alone, in my opinion. Imagine how it will be for the secretaries, for example? Anyways, it doesn't seem really appropriate for workplaces, I what works for phones in the everyday tasks in a desktop looks like a colorful entertainment suite.
EDIT: Another thing, if you get your mouse to the lower left corner of the screen and right click there it will open a drop down menu with some useful things that used to be in the old start menu like Search, Run, Command Prompt, etc.
LOl, I didn't even know there was Windows 8. I use XP SP3 and happy.
You'll stay happy until you buy a game which uses DirectX 11. Then you'll suddenly feel a need to upgrade.
I have Crysis 2 which uses DX11 and Im happy with 7

This sounds like total BS, do you have a source?
They said windows vista was going to bring us crossplatform multiplayer through a single standard network (xbox live network). And games for windows live did support it for awhile, but only two games ever took advantage of it and both had issues with balance (pc gamers with a mouse + keyboard would perform massively better than xbox360 users using a controller even with massive amounts of aim assists given to the console players). So they abandoned the idea, plus games for windows live has never been very popular due to the fact that it's an extremely annoying and crappy experience. The few games that have used it exclusively have sold poorly.
Now why would they try this again?
