Of course Apple is expensive , but that's not what OP asked for , and you can install both Osx and 7 on these computers , of course you'll get better perfs with 7 even on your Mac with Dolphin , because most of the games are smoother atm with Dx than Ogl , and there is no Dx in Osx .

i still have my Powerbook from 2002 and its still there ,I wouldn't even think of a pc that I could still use in 10 years!

Thank You Smile

Well if i can stretch it, I can afford the low end 15 inch which has the Radeon 6490.
Yet, i've found this video, and it can run Wind Waker at a playable framerate, but as i'm sure you have more knowledge of Dolphin, do you reckon it's a fake? Tongue
Here's the video:

Mainly, the games i'd want to just play when boredom sets in:
Viewtiful Joe 1 & 2
Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes
Super Mario Bros Wii
I'm thinking out of them, Mario Bros might be the one that might just have a great framerate, unlike the others, unless i'm mistaken?
Here's the specs of the Macbooks if you want them:
13-inch: 2.7 GHz
2.7GHz dual-core
Intel Core i7
4GB 1333MHz
500GB 5400-rpm1
Intel HD Graphics 3000

15-inch: 2.0 GHz
2.0GHz quad-core
Intel Core i7
4GB 1333MHz
500GB 5400-rpm1
Intel HD Graphics 3000
AMD Radeon HD 6490M with 256MB GDDR5

Thanks for the help Smile
what i can mention...
both are crap

the first will run most of the games between 80 - 99.9%
but only with 720p maybe with 480p without any aa

(my notebook has a i3 with 2.53ghz and a nvidia 310m (optimus) with the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD (GMA HD) )
on harvest moon windows mode(maybe 480p)
with nvidia i got 23-24fps playable speed
with the intel hd i got 18-19fps not playable speed
go and look how much faster the intel hd 3000 is...

the second will run most of the games with 50-70%
at a higher resolution with eventually 2xaa

dolphin needs above 3.3ghz to run most of the games at 100%
and a highend gpu above ati 5770 or gtx460 to run with 1080p and aa

save money and buy a moded wii...
both macs are crap
All I can add to whats already been said is that please reconsider, is it really worth shelling out all that money on a Macbook?
Nothing with it is justified, it's an bitten apple for Christ sake.
The first one needs a Graphic card , the second needs a CPU , so yeah , both are not in great shape for Dolphin .
Well if i were you I would be getting a Mac mostly to be getting a mac, I think at native resolution you can play most games, Even on the lower end core i5 13 inch which is actually 100mhz faster then my dell xps I can get full speed or close to full speed in quite a few games, I feel it would be hard to justify the extra price for a 15 inch when the 6490 isn't that much better then the hd 3000.

Here my hierarchy
13 low end, can play most dolphin games, close or at full speed at native or near native resolution
13 high end, can play most dolphin games at full speed more consistant over all, graphics would be about the same
15 low end 15 inch, Mostly likely not as consitant as the high end 13 inch since dolphin really only cares about clock speed after dual cores. Graphics can be pumped up alittle but not that much
15 high end 15inch, pretty much can be played full speed at the laptops native resolution

You have to keep in mind I've never own a mac I only know a bunch of people who do. i did have a linux machine and that's what i'm basing most of my predictions on

If you really are only getting this laptop for dolphin, I would also suggest getting a PC, So if you getting a mac get it for the mac experience first because that's what they sell a very polished user experience, if you just looking for raw gaming power look elsewhere at the same price point PC can walk all over macs

Mac and Linux, it's like comparing Apples with Penguins

That I can agree with
get a gaming rig for 1000$
and a lenovo notebook for 500$
and everyone is happy

or get a macbook for 2000$
cry about it...
setup boot camp and install a windows partition...
and think about it that you payed over 1000$ just for the apple logo

just look after a notebook with the i7 with a nvidia oder ati gpu...
its hard to find ö-Ö

Muffin_Awesome

Or this as a little beacon of hope for you on running via the MacBook pro 13

Listen to the review of how it runs and make your decision. Max resolution is 1280 x 760. I am sure on windows or Linux it will run marginally better, but from the sounds of it you want to experience dolphin and have a gorgeous looking laptop for other than just games And emulation. I think I will be picking up the i5 version he pushes in the video and let you know as well my experience. No one here answered your question besides trying to convince you why apple is sub par, everyone knows this
.. games are not made for apple or Linux. Relax you nutbars if you don't have any experience with Mac and dolphin be quiet and learn, that is all this person is trying to do, no need to tout windows gaming superiority in every reply we know.
