oh you where that swedish guy who i told that the Dragon Rig was to expensive! Big Grin
if the i7 is locked it would be gay
because the unlocked version is running with aircooling stable at 4.4ghz
and if its locked... not the money worth... because in 1year there is no possibilty to OOC it...

so your old rig2 would run faster oc @4ghz
So a unlocked one would be better huh.
Well I found a 2600K for 15$ more, it really doesn't change anything price wise.

Edit: Ok I found an older I7 from last year.
It's an 970 hexacore @ 3,2 GHz with 12mb L3 cache, it's locked but it's only 680$
680$ is relatively cheap here in Sweden.

Edit 2: Got damn it, now I don't know what to do...let alone what to choose.
The goodies just popping up like flowers in bloom.
Get a 2500k or 2600k and you will max out just about everything on dolphin.

Not to mention they get about i7 980x performance for other tasks anyway so they makes a bunch of older processors obsolete

$220-$300 is ridiculously good value for them. I run 2600k easy at 5.0ghz on air cooling.

(if I were building a system just for gaming I would get the 2500k though they are essentially the same, only difference is hyperthreading)

Ok comparing the 2500K with the 2600K gave me this:

2600K:

~380$
3,4GHz
8mb L3 cache

2500K:

~260$
3,3Ghz
6mb L3 cache

The only real difference between them is the price, performance wise I don't think it would matter.

its hard...
the 2600k is beating the shit out of the 2500k

but some other benchmarks are showing that the amd can beat the 2500k

but dont forget...
the 2600k is running with aircooling above 4.4ghz
thats the point!

if your cpu runs at 100% ht let it run on 110% because the cpu is faster on organisation this many tasks with ht

go sell your old mainboard with the q9650 and go for it...
but i want that you make a review of both rigs
amd vs intel Wink

oh and dont forget the sandybridge needs DDR3...

That won't be a problem, I'll just take 4gb from the AMD rig, the rest of the stuff I have.

I'll save the other parts for spares to use on an older machine I have for surfing and stuff.

What the hell, if I'm about to buy something I think I'll take the 2600K.
I'll just regret if I don't.....shit here we go again.

man dont do it Big Grin
take your girl out for a coffee
just a hint
go and sell the parts of the rig1
and the i7 2600k is nearly for free
be fast... if bulldozer comes the amd price could drop a little
underclock rig2 for surfing
I did....I did it

I just bought an I7 2600K along with this:

ASUS P8H67-M

Antec Kühler H2O 620 CPU-Cooler

For the price of 620$ (~4000 SEK)

BTW I'm divorced since 2008, screw her.
nice decision both ways

next discussion about amd vs intel?
everyone is coming back ;D
the rate between possible clock -> standard clock -> speed per clock -> price per clock -> stability is priceless

if you dont OOC dont expect much difference in games between your amd and that i7
Yeah it will be nice to see how things turn out.
Man I'm so hyped right now...
