the extra analogue isn't what drew my attention. its the game that unofficially was "announced" in it

Whats wrong with the DS phat?
I'd be wonder if N will allow 3DS V2 only games. The fact its coming out so early means it only be a few hundred thousand 3DS V1 owners vs millions of V2.

google says the 3DS games are region locked, but the DS games played on a 3DS are not region locked

just like the Wii , the 3DS can run in 3 modes : DSi, DS , 3DS. when a DS game is inserted it downgrades everything back to DS mode and looses all ends to 3DS mode. so ye, what they did with the DS has to be done with 3DS if youre going to support DS stuff. as for why 3DS is region locked, its probably to stop different region games to be run on different region handhelds so you can stop region-exploits or get more control over such things.

I'm not really excited about it as I want to be. I feel they have screwed us on some good potential 2D Kid Icarus games for SNES, GBA, NDS in the past.
