When I start the emulator the screen turns black and then gray and says "clearing code cache". Then the emulator shuts down/ freezes. Any ideas on how to fix it??

It's just resetting the cheats, not really anything you can do about it, unless you cannot use dolphin at all that would be a different issue.

I can't use it at all. It freezes and doesn't work

retrogamestr

did you try redownloading it?
Download an older reversion and try it out, that's strange, usually when it clears it mostly freezes the game but you can still play it by restarting.

It has nothing to do with cheats. It's just clearing the jit cache.
just to clarify, Dolphin will clear the cache at certain points
what game you playing that causes this?

Just like NV seid.

All tho my games DO continue after 2 secs when it clears cache.
I've had 'Clearing code cache' show up in the corner before while playing LoZ:WW, when I've gone from one area to another (every now and again). Doesn't stop the game or crash dolphin for me.

I had the same problem when i tried to play Paper Mario: TTYD. I downloaded older version and it didn't work. Sad
