I made this, tell me what you think. I know it's not very different from the original but that could be a good thing as it's easier to people to recognize the identity.

I like it
Btw how about a poll with different logos?

This would be great, PCSX2 made a pool like this some time ago and choose the current icons that are great...

I don't really think we have any options to chose from. The first proposal (of the thread starter) probably looks like crap with 32x32 or even 16x16 icons and the one by Zilaan looks too simplistic imo.
Seriously. Come back suggesting a poll once we actually have some good choices...
I like the current one, it became classic with the years, it is vastly recognized over the internet, and it looks very cool on the windows 7 taskbar.
Maybe just a redraw of the same logo with simplier colors and lines, just to look new, and I'd still prefer the old one Tongue

what about a poll to know who wants to keep the actual logo?
And then what? Decide that we drop the current logo without any alternative?
Let's just ship with no logo at all for 3.0, THAT's innovative Tongue

not a bad idea just the name DOLPHIN and a square to insert his own logo or anything else... what do you think of that? Big Grin
Dolphin is a hardware emulator, and therefore has nothing to do with Mario (not directly, anyway). It seems that the logo should give the impression that it's unbiased to software.

Here are some mock-ups. Personally I prefer it without the disc drive because it makes it look like a robot and doesn't size down well. Perhaps it can go elsewhere. Any thoughts on this?

I tried to keep it simple.

Ultra stroked looks epic.

EDIT by neobrain: Again, do NOT quote the whole freaking post just to answer with a one-liner >_>

If we do keep the triangle on top, can it be angled right? It is currently oriented towards the viewer, which is not how it'd be used on dice.

Also, I am in favour of keeping the Mario icon, but souped up. I like it. I don't really like this whole cube thing, though it is like a Gamecube I guess.

I don't like the cube thing at all, and it doesn't even remind of me a GameCube. To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of the Wii or its aesthetics, but I created an icon to resemble it because it seemed most appropriate for this project.

I generally use Dolphin to emulate GameCube games, and I'm a huge fan of Mario. But having an icon that is aesthetically similar to the Wii encompasses the goals of this project: a Wii runs both GameCube and Wii software, as does Dolphin, so Dolphin is essentially a "Wii emulator".

Plus I couldn't even tell it was Mario until I saw a higher resolution image. Having him silhouetted in white is almost like not even having him at all.
