Sorry in advance!! I've tried to find some info for myself on this forum but I am getting some mixed answers. From what I found out Processor > GPU. However, I've heard the opposite as well.
Long story short I'm looking into getting a new computer soon and while I love playing my wii being able to produce a 1080p resolution is very tempting. So I would like my new computer to be able to run dolphin at least 30 fps.
I was looking into the Alienware m15x. I saw there was a thread about it here but the conclusion was a little unclear (for me at least). Anyway, if I got these specs would I be able to run the 'popular' wii titles?
-Intel® Core™ i7 740QM Quad Core Processor, 1.73GHz (2.93GHz Turbo Mode, 6M Cache)
-6 GB RAM
-1GB GDDR3 NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 260M
I know these threads are annoying but I really don't want to get a new computer all to find out that one of the things I want it to do won't.
Thank you!

This will hurt the performance pretty hard.

at 1.73 ghz... yeh it will.
Turbo Boost ?
Just use Lock Threads to Cores...

do you own a i7m ??
the turboboost is really hard...
The mobile i7's are great for dolphin, seen two people use them so far. Cpu-z shows the frequency go up as high as 2.8 - 3.06ghz on the 820qm while gaming and a i7-640M as high as 3.2-3.4ghz.
It only idles at a lower frequency but that's irrelevant.. Turbo boost is what makes the processor just as on the newer sandy bridge cpus

it still peaks at below 3Ghz, which won't be enough for the typical games most dolphin users are trying for. (when you take into account EFB to Ram and LLE JIT)
i've upgrade to 920 @ 2.6ghz, nothing lag on 1080p. only hyrule field ~26fps and mario galaxy ~50-55, beside that all other games full speed.. metroid very playable too.
e: my old athlon @ 3.8ghz lag on dolphin, heavy oc. i7 fast on stock speed

lets see
you have an i7 generation processor at 1,733 ghz. i am playing on an i5 dualcore 2,4 ghz and no lag. so cpu passed.
intern memory good enough so also passed and your video card is ok but you need all your settings wich you can set lower set lower but yes its posible
