I have a "back up" memory card that includes a just-started F-Zero GX save file that I can test with.

old version of HBC
im sure of that (or they bypassed HBC's security in dolphin which i doubt even more)
ALSO; about the protected GCN saves

no, you can't transfer those
never can and never will
iirc those are tied to the memory card serial. meaning the save is locked to the mem card
If it were totally impossible, how is it possible to have this?:

i have no idea how its done or if it even works(the gci format)

but games like phantasy star online are tied to the memory card and just transfering them wont work.
idk if fzero is just copy protected or tied to the mem card
It's tied to the memory card serial.
It was possible on the GCN (Fairly sure through homebrew), also im not sure if im remembering another game but i think in F-Zero itself it allowed you to copy data between memory cards (Sega and Nintendo couldn't possibly be dense enough to think your memory card will never be damaged, no one who took the time to unlock everything in that game would want to start from the beginning again).

however; they require the System menu to unlock the card first (since libogc can't in wii mode)

so you have to go to the memory card in System menu's Save menu (in options)
look at the saves
go back
boot hbc
boot my app(or any other mem card dumper)
and start dumping.

all without unplugging the mem card or shutting down Smile

Ya know, you really should mention this on the app's Wiibrew page.
Just wanted to bump this because I tried the trick mentioned by DacoTaco and I STILL got the -5 error.

I'm using a 254 block official Nintendo memory card, a launch Wii, newest HBC, and Wii Menu 4.3U

same setup works fine for me Smile
You sure you don't have any crazy cIOS or something? Because that is just... odd. I'll record and upload a video of me doing it tomorrow to prove/double check what I'm doing.

In case you couldn't tell, I REALLY want to dump my memory card. Tongue (in particular, I want my save for 007 Nightfire because the game borks in Dolphin on the first-time-play intro level)

hahahahahaha

now why would i , who has created a cios detection in priiloader's installer because i hate cios , have some shitty ios setup?

no, this was on IOS58, HBC1.0.8, ahbprot enabled (but shouldn't matter), and my program alone
