It appears I may have a problem
remember when I said it only suports 125w CPU's with a BIOS update? Well I can't seem to update it
I spam the f12 button, but it doesn't work, any ideas

What motherboard do you have?

a770e3 Biostar
I had seen this:
I chose a 125w Phenom II X 4 955 chip since the Biostar website says it supports it. I put it together and booted up and it said, " Max Power over 95W system will now shout down". I could not figure out what the problem was. After some reading I was told to use a 95W CPU and then update BIOS then change to 125W CPU. That is a problem, I don't have another CPU that is 95W. After many hours of reading I was told that you can lower the voltage to fake the MB out to think it is a 95W CPU. Didn't work, nothing would even come up after this. I did some reading and found out how to reset the pin on board to go back to default. Tried wattage many times, didn't work. Finally found by pressing F11 many times I got to a BIOS update screen. I had to make a bootable USB, then d/l new BIOS, then flash BIOS. FINALLY WORKED!! Kind of fun to figure out though.
I tried it, but I can't get it to work

Yeah, that mobo should be able to do it.
So, you successfully flashed your BIOS right?
And you don't get "Max Power over 95W. System will now shut down" message anymore?
What happens now?

No, no, that's the problem I can't flash it and keep getting that message.
I DID IT!!1! I e-mailed BIOSTAR and they said to press f10 to ignore the CPU warning and it worked
(aka I flashed a new BIOS XD)11-30-2011, 01:01 PM
I did some reading (and testing) and apparently I can't raise the multiplier over 16.5 (thats only a 0.5 raise), if I do it won't boot >.>
Edit: Apparently about the highest i can go is 205x16.5 >.> (and my guess is it isn't very stable

Lol good to hear you got it working. I went to bed so sorry I couldn't be of much help xD.
Biostar acted fast, now THAT is customer service
What are your temps?
Check those temps on idle, and with prime95 before you try to overclock lol.

Yeah, I was so glad that they responded so fast

Well I don't have windows yet (I plan on temp using ubuntu), BUT after turning on and off my computer several times (
) they were at 32 C.So let's say: What should the max be with JUST the bios on for 30 min.
