The main reason is because dolphin sometimes has to render many efb copies per frame.

Take twilight princess for example. The native internal resolution is 640 x 528 (.33 megapixels). 0.33MP x 9 (3x3 efb scale) x 4 (4xSSAA) x 9 (number of efb copies per frame in faron woods) x 30 (number of frames per second) = 3.24 billion pixels per second

Now a pc gaming running at 1920 x 1080 (2.05MP) without SSAA at 60 fps would only be 123 million pixels per second. Big difference. Thank god GC/Wii games need a lot less throughput per pixel than modern pc games or we would be screwed.

I have 580 and it can't run all games at the absolute maximum settings (incl. max aa), especially at 2560x1600. But at 1080p you will have no problems with 570 mostly)

Thank you glad its just not me.I was going to get a 580 just for the fact i'm playing at 2560x1600 and recording using fraps. However what cpu are you using?I'm assuming a i72600k at 4.5ghz and a gtx 580 would get really close. With my 5870 and i7 920 at 3.4ghz with no fraps on or aa It rarely dips or stutters.I can't really notice a difference at all with aa on anyways
