When fps is fluctuating for no good reason.

That depends on how you look at it. Changing the option will change real fps which will fix/break calculation of displayed gamespeed/fps so that it's more/less accurate depending on whether the option is on/off.
Naturalviolence, please explain what vbeam is for me. I tried getting an answer for days but no luck.

Tongue we would need a good explanation from the person who implemented it first.
Now I'm curious, syncing up to the SVN to see if I can find it and figure out what it's doing.

EDIT:
Found it, looks like it determines which fields of the screen are being synchronized to catch some key differences between interlace and progressive scan modes. I have no idea why that's important though since my field of expertise is in Direct3D & HLSL for PC, not all that familiar with game console's internal workings.
If you tick the option, you'll get more FPS. (just try it with DKCR)
but can vbeam cause glitches?
DKCR already tested... No improvement with VBeam...

I got a big speed up ~
look in the second map (1-2). Look FPS in the Waterfall zone.

Mine VPS and FPS are the same with or without VBeam.
