its very easy...

you need two IR-emitting lights. the wiimote will find and use them for calculating the moves.
no connection is needed - you can use two candles, it also work.
you can also build the sensorbar on your own with two IR-led powerd by a bicycledynamo - in that case you need a driverDodgy

You don't need drivers for infrared light, notice the sarcasam above? The wii remote has an internal sensor that detects infrared light. All you need is a source of infrared light for it to work. They make wireless infrared light bars. If you don't want to go wireless you will need to make your own connection to a power source.

BTW: I use the candles. Works great and consumes no power
