-Sandy Bridge (at emu-muncher's clock) is about 65% faster than my E8400@3GHz in Dolphin? (I get ~35FPS). Or are there different factors to consider?
Emu-muncher has a core i5 at 3,2ghz, he just posted here for comparison if someone with a sandy bridge posts his own. Unfortunately none with a Sandy bridge has posted anything useful till now, except that they run most games full speed (this happens with a corei3,i5,i7 too).
Oh, well great news, Sandy Bridge is even faster then I guess. (BUT HOW MUCH??)
From what I've seen over at the PCSX2 forum, it is roughly 5 FPS faster on the FF X-2 benchmark, than the pre-sandy i-core cpus, clock for clock, but that is with their PS2 emulator.
What with the Wii/Cube being a totally different platform than the PS2, (the Wii/Cube is like a PC, whereas PS2 is not) I'm guessing that the gains would be higher with Dolphin, but yeah, I dunno for sure either. Yet.

I'll be getting my sandy bridge 2500k here in two-three days. And I have an I5 I can run comparison tests with. I'll post my results here

nice. looking forward to this ajaxx. i've just got my hands on a cheap i5 750 on ebay as my budget couldn't quite stretch to a 2500k and it'll be good to know how much i'm missing out on. what i5 do you have?

It's an i5 750.
It'll be interesting to see if it was worth all the money I just blew on it. the 2500k is clocked at 3.3 stock, so Im sure that I'll be able to do some nice overclocking. I did some research and people are saying that it only allows you to overclock it's maximum turbo boost capacity. Sounds interesting...
"people are saying that it only allows you to overclock it's maximum turbo boost capacity."
that's the i5 2500. the 2500>K< that you're getting has an unlocked multiplier and should easily clock to well over 4ghz.

thank god, good to know. Well, I'll keep you posted on my results.
They're supposed to be good overclockers , as you can see atm , my 2600K is @ 5 Ghz with the stock cooler .
LOL. If you wanna kill your new i7 or i5 within days, weeks, or months, then be my guest. ^^ 5Ghz for everyday usage is not practical.
