Guys

Just upgraded to the I5-2500K, with the idea I'd probably have to overclock for Dolphin.

My old CPU was an AMD 6000+ X2, which managed about 30 fps in Donkey Kong Returns.

Since the upgrade everything is a solid 60fps, I've tried

Donkey Kong Returns
Mario Galaxy 2
Mario Kart
New Super Mario
Sonic Colors - (30fps)

Is there anything that Dolphin typically struggles with I should be trying?
I'm still on the default 3.3GHZ, with a Geforce 320 low end video card.

Can't comment on the HD Graphics 3000, as I bought the P67 motherboard with the idea I'd probably have to overclock, doesn't look like I'll have to!

Okay, I'm going to put all of this nonsense to rest. The former i7 core was great for Dolphin, the new i7 will be better. Nuff said, end of story. Too much sandy bridge stuff going around.

Try Super Mario Galaxy with the LLE plugin and see if you are fullspeed most of the time.

It's an I5 I have.

I thought you had to overclock the hell out of I7 to get full frame rates out of it?

If you have the NTSC-U version of Super Mario Galaxy, try unzipping the following save game into the save folder (Right click the game -> Open Wii save folder). When you load it, it'll start you in the observatory. Test the speed of that screen using the DX9 and LLE plugin.

Also Metroid Prime in game can be slow.

Turn on EFB to RAM and go in-game in New Super Mario Bros Wii and see what is the speed there.

I'm pretty sure that a lot of people here want to know just exactly how much improvement it has from the 1st gen of the Core i5/i7 to the 2nd gen of the Core i5/i7.

@takenit2far

Can you do a test on Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles (Wii)? I get around 20 fps on my E6300 @ 3.73Ghz with GTX 460 768mb at 1080p resolution and 3x efb scale.

Here runs fullspeed Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles (NO OC in CPU).
I'm surprised that with my E8400 3.0Ghz is better than a E6300@3.73Ghz.Big Grin
What's your setting and resolution?

Enable dual core, Idle skipping, EFB to Texture, real audio throttle,16xAnisotropic,JIT64,resolution I use 1024x768, (with 40% OC on the GPU to use 1024x768 max of the my monitor).
Disable EFB Scaled copy, and use an older version of dolphin (because of the FIFO).
For this game I use the r5333 x64 SSE4.1 by Lectrode.
1080p res and 3x efb scale is heavy gpu intensive for this game. I'm sure I can get max fps with a lower res.
