Dolphin, the GameCube and Wii emulator - Forums

Hello everyone,
I need a System that can run dolphin without any major problems. At the time being i can run GC Games just fine but when it comes to some Wii games like Mario Galaxy I still get a very low FPS.

My System:
Mainboard Asus PT6 SE
CPU Intel Core i7 920 2,66 GHz
CPU Cooler Arctic Freezer Extreme Rev. 2
12 GB DDR3 Ram 1333MHz
Nvidia GTX260 896MB

Which Component needs to be updated in order to fix this problem?

overclock cpu everything is ok the probleme is any cpu reach 60 fps a the time in smg we have to wait by the way new revision are slower cause to work in fifo

That setup looks like it should run pretty well. Getting the latest graphics card or a faster processor would speed things up a bit, but I've only been reading this forum for a few days, and it seems that not many people are getting full speed in Mario Galaxy. I've read that clock speed is more important than the number of cores, so you might consider overclocking. I would play around with the settings for a while first, though.

yea overclocking would be possible with that cpu. and would help.

but if you really have very low fps check the game threads and test different settings.

Also post screenshots of your settings if you ask next time. Without knowing those there could be everything wrong. Maybe you are using opengl but dx9 is best, or another more specific setting slows things down.

I See, so up to how much GHz would you recommend Overclocking my CPU?
jontcold said that the newer revisions are slower because they work in FIFO, if that's true then what revision is the best one to be using?
I'm also worried about the temperatures of my CPU because its usually 40-50 degrees Celsius hot and that's if I'm not pushing it to the max, while running prime95 (stability testing software) it sometimes goes up to 90 degrees Celsius, is this normal or would you recommend a better CPU Cooler before going into overclocking?

My Os is Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
and my Revision is SVN R 6600

90c is really high.
A good nice safe temp is about 70c.

At ~4.2ghz your i7 will be running pretty much everything full speed.

It's a really bad idea on stock cooling though, which you seem to have. If you want to overclock that much, either get liquid cooling or a really good air cooler like Noctua NH-D14

okay I see, I will consider getting a Noctua Cooler since they seem pretty decent and all reviews i have read were positive.

Are my Dolphin settings, witch I posted above okay?
or is there something i could change for better performance?

90 degree is high. I cant see if you are talking about overclocked or stock speed.
IF you have 90 degrees without overclocking there is something wrong! If you know how try to check maybe the Compound between cpu and cooler is dry or anything else is wrong with it.

Even with stock cooler an intel should be able to be OCd quite well, just do it in small steps and always check temps inbetween.
