Sorry but this is discontinued.

Quote:I have created a special build to test our GPUs with Dolphin. Since different settings and revs are a problem in such cases, creating a rev with standard ready settings to be used globally by everyone is a helpful way to deal with it.

What is needed:
This special rev with ready common settings for everyone to use: r6739x64 GPU special build also for win 32 r6739x32 GPU special build
Fraps LINK in order to take ingame screenshots.
To be the owner of Mario Kart Wii USA game (game id: RMCE01). The special build above has a save file that can be of use with this game.

And the optional(if you don't know your processor- graphics card model and speed) cpuz LINK and gpu z LINK, in order to be able to report them.

What you need to do is run the Mario Kart game with default settings and select -> time trial (mario and top left cart),Special cup->Rainbow Road -> solo time trial. After the race starts take a picture with fraps(set the screenshot key to numlock + to not interfere with dolphins hotkeys) with efb scale set to 1x, 2x, and 3x respectively and post them here, along with your cpu, gpu models and clocks. You can also post results with antialiasing at different efb scales if your card can handle it. All tests should be done at the default window resolution of 1024*768, which is a resolution that most monitors support. Results will be gathered in this post in various ways and formats to be viewed in order for everyone to have a clear view of what kind of a graphic card you need for the settings you use or like to use. Below are the results posted in this thread:

Below is an excel file of the above data.

Temporary edit:
Anti aliasing data graph is added along with an excel file, making the formating of the original post complete.
What's the difference between efb scale 1x,x2,x3 ... ??

Different internal resolution, things are more crisp, clear and less pixelated as a whole when using a modern monitor the higher the res (efb scale) is.
Ah thanks , so generally it's a bit like the SSAA ?
No. Can somebody find that post I made where I explained the efb scale/internal resolution in detail? I really don't feel like typing all that again.
Dang, the 8600GT 512mb sucks compared to the 9600GT 512mb... Anyways, the AF (Anisotropic Filtering) is set at 2x, is that default setting? I wonder if I'd gain more fps if it's set to 1x.

Edit: New fps score obtained by

(1)switching to Windows Classic theme without lowering the native screen resolution (1920x1080)
(2)lowered screen resolution down to 1280x720 with Windows Classic theme!

1x 85 to 89 same desktop resolution but switched to windows classic theme
1x 85 to 92 reduced res from 1080p to 720p with windows classic theme
2x 33 to 34 reduced res from 1080p to 720p with windows classic theme

I updated the first post with the info. For aniso filtering that is not the default setting, just the default setting of this build. I don't think that can change fps though. I meant to push the graphics card settings but i remembered later that not every card supports high aniso filtering so i kept it low for compatibility reasons. I think it was the default setting in the normal builds in the past though.

Funny how just by applying Windows Classic theme can get your fps boosted, at least it works for me. Also, if you lowered your desktop resolution and combined with windows classic theme, you'd get maximum fps lol.
@NaturalViolence: Heh, I think first we'd have to figure out if you or NeoBrain were correct in that matter Tongue
Interesting, I dropped my CPU speed from 3.7Ghz down to 3.33Ghz and I'd still get 89 fps on 1x efb. To me, this means that I'm severely GPU limited. Can't wait till I get the 460 GTX deliver on thursday.
