I'm reading a book on kanji (Chinese characters) and surprised I was to see nr. 979,

The last symbol looking like a lying u is what makes it verb I think, I think you just remove it for the noun. Now if I can find the Dolphin symbol, I could write
Dolphin emulator!
Btw if anyone wonders why I learn kanjis, IDK, I must be bored
Edit: So I went and found it, I think it's 2 of them... 海豚
So, this should be Dolphin emulator in Chinese!!

Hey, that's pretty cool! Now if only I could write it on my own........ Chinese seems so complicated and time-consuming to write
There's some secrets to it though; of the several thousand kanjis, they're all made of of smaller components, which there's just 200-300 of. (the above ones have 3, 2 and 3 components each). So you only have to know the components in each symbol (that's what the book I read is teaching, not everyone does it that way though...)

wow, I thought you were full of it at first, but then I asked my girl friend and she confirmed that the bottom one does say dolphin. She couldnt read the top one though. Hah, and here I was thinking all Japanese can read kanji
Japanese Kanji come from "traditional chinese" (Hong Kong ,Taiwan,Macao) which write harder than "simplified chinese" (Singapore,China)
It's a pain to study them all as i do
that and chinese kanji & japanese kanji are 2 different things from what i can see most of the time
Errr, that last character there is a japanese "u" (hiragana).
Kanji might be Chinese, but the Japanese just borrowed a few of them for daily use.

Yeah I knew Japanese use kanji too... actually that's more my interest than Chinese.
Actually in the case of dolphin "emulator", loan words would be used. The only place that would "hard" translate everything would be Quebec and their french. You need to get a really good kanji dictionary to know this, but in a good kanji dictionary there will be uk next to a word, which means "usually kana". This is the case of narau as you stretching the original meaning (to imitate/emulate) which doesn't translate nicely to technology and for another reason. Hell, they JUST added kanji for decrypt and encrypt when dealing with those computer terms and nobody will probably use it. emyureetoru would be emulator, because narau is a low-frequency word/kanji to begin with and would used in kana, so a word typically used in kana would not be used for a foreign/computer term.
